Wright Brothers National Memorial
Fly a kite just like the Wright Brothers.
Did you know that Wilbur and Orville started out their experiments testing kites? Their first prototypes involved box shaped kites and hand held controls to make the twisting turns that they were searching for. These controls would evolve into a hip control that was used on the 1903 flyer. This control allowed them to balance out the machine while in the air, thus achieving manned, controlled, powered, heavier-than-air flight. Bring a kite and test the winds of Kitty Hawk just like the Wright Brothers.
