During the nation’s bicentennial in 1976, the idea of us being a UNITED States was very important, and therefore, a rosy picture was sometimes painted in celebrations and histories of our fight for independence from Great Britain. But, historians now fully acknowledge the fact that the United States’ first true “Civil War” occurred during the American Revolution, with many colonists openly supporting the British in many ways. This special exhibit is here for the duration of America's 250th birthday. Meet the people of the Mohawk Valley and see how the war affected their lives. Who really won or lost? What did "victory" cost them? Was it worth it? You be the judge.
