Many people fish for long periods of time, but you can also just fish for an hour or so.
This is typically a free activity. However, parking permits are required to fish after hours throughout the park and in other areas at all time. More information about these permits can be found here.

Yes — Dogs are allowed on leashes. Dogs are not allowed on ocean beaches at Jamaica Bay or Sandy Hook between March 15 and September 15. Dogs are also not allowed on swimming beaches when lifeguards are on duty.
