Become a Junior Ranger at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. The Junior Ranger program is a great way for individuals of all ages to learn about the river, its natural resources, and the history of the Upper Delaware River Valley.

Become a Junior Ranger at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. The Junior Ranger program is a great way for individuals of all ages to learn about the river, its natural resources, and the history of the Upper Delaware River Valley. To become an Upper Delaware Junior Ranger, stop by the Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen, PA to receive a free Junior Ranger book. After completing several activities, you can return the booklet to a park ranger, who will award you with the Upper Delaware Junior Ranger badge. Aspiring junior rangers can also download a digital copy of the Junior Ranger book or request to be sent a digital or physical copy to complete on their own. After completing the junior ranger book, rangers are happy to mail new junior rangers a badge to a provided address. Junior ranger requests can be emailed to: [email protected]. From the gravel parking area in front of the museum, there are thirteen stone steps to reach the museum, and another six wooden steps up to the front porch. A handrail is available. There is no elevator or lift available and there are no automatic doors. Please contact staff ahead of time to discuss any accommodations you or someone in your party may require, and how the park may be able to best accommodate. For more information on accessibility at the park, please see our accessibility page. Aspiring junior rangers can also complete their junior ranger book remotely by downloading and completing the digital version of the junior ranger book and either emailing or printing and mailing a copy to park staff. Rangers are happy to mail new junior rangers a badge to a provided address. Email requests can be sent to [email protected].

Pets

Yes — Pets are welcome in outdoor areas at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. However, only service animals are permitted inside the Zane Grey Museum. Visitors are welcome to enter the museum to grab their junior ranger booklet and complete it outside on the front porch with their pet. We also ask to please keep pets on a leash and that pet waste be collected by pet owners.
