Join a ranger for a program at any of our three sites: Downtown Beaufort, Darrah Hall, or Pinckney-Porter’s Chapel. Program time and days vary at each site. Check our calendar to know the day and times of our free park programs. On each program park rangers will provide a historical background about the Reconstruction era in the Sea Islands of South Carolina. Please note that all programs take place outdoors and may involve walking distances of up to a half mile. Comfortable shoes, a water bottle, and insect repellant are strongly encouraged. In addition, ranger-facilitated programs are subject to modification or cancellation based on weather conditions and staffing availability. In the event of thunderstorm or tornado warnings, programs will be canceled. In the event of a heat advisory from the National Weather Service, programs will be shortened and modified to be in the shade or inside. In the event of a Heat Warning, all programs will be held inside and will be modified to best fit each location. For more information about tours or other programs in the region, check in with the Beaufort Visitor Center to learn about the various guided tour opportunities in the City of Beaufort. Please note that these are not National Park Service managed tours and do not provide access to official National Park Service sites. Group Programs and Events If you are coordinating a visit for a group, such as a military unit or civic/community organization, the park could facilitate a ranger program, either in person, or virtually. Contact us for more information. Special Events and Programs The park periodically hosts special events and programs, often in partnership with community groups like the Penn Center. See the calendar of events for more information. Education and Youth Programs Contact us for information about scheduling a field trip or virtual presentation for your school group or visit the Penn Center website for information about their educational offerings.
