Missouri National Recreational River offers primitive, Leave-No-Trace camping available at Bow Creek, Green Island, and Goat Island Recreation Areas. No camping fees are required but we do ask that you leave us your basic itinerary for your safety. Camp only in designated sites marked with brown camping signs and metal fire rings. "Primitive" camping means that there are no developed campgrounds in the MNRR. You must bring all of your supplies with you. If you're paddling, you'll need to be able to carry all of your camping supplies in your boat. On Goat Island, camping is allowed anywhere on the island, with the exception of the established hunting season after Labor Day to January when camping is restricted to the two designated camping areas. Please call 605-665-0209 and be prepared to share your name, phone number, emergency contact information, and the site location you plan to camp including the dates of when you will arrive and depart from park property. Campfire Safety A campfire can enhance your camping experience, but if not properly tended and fully extinguished, it can lead to catastrophic and deadly consequences. Please follow these guidelines for campfire safety. Please use designated fire pits. Dead and down wood may be collected.
