Swimming and playing in the water at Governors Landing, and throughout the park, is popular during Amistad National Recreation Area's hot summers. Swimming is allowed throughout the park except at mooring locations, designated fishing locations, and boat ramps.

Swimming and playing in the water at Governors Landing, and throughout the park, is popular during Amistad National Recreation Area's hot summers. Swimming is allowed throughout the park except at mooring locations, designated fishing locations, and boat ramps. There are no lifeguards in the park; swim at your own risk. It is recommended that you wear a life vest (PFDs) whenever you enter a body of water whether it is flowing or not.

Due to the fluctuating lake level one must walk/hike down to the shoreline, often across rocky terrain when water is very low.

Pets

Yes — Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and attached to a person or stationary object at all times. Pet waste must be cleaned up and deposited in an outdoor trash can or dumpster.
