Attending a ranger-led program in the park is a great way to discover new things and learn more about Padre Island National Seashore. The park offers a variety of ranger-led programs such as deck talks and beach walks. All programs are offered free of charge. However, there is a fee to enter the park. Check the calendar or the NPS App for daily activities and at the visitor center for special pop-up programs being offered. Children in attendance at programs must be accompanied by an adult participant during the entire program. Unplanned Cancellations Ranger-led programs may be cancelled during inclement weather or unplanned staffing shortages. Stop in at the visitor center when you arrive to check on the program schedule for that day. Guided by a park ranger or volunteer, this leisurely walk introduces you to the area’s fascinating natural and cultural history while exploring what the tides have brought in. Season: Summer Reservations: No Age Recommendation: All ages. Coffee With A Ranger Enjoy a warm cup of coffee and a friendly conversation with a member of our park management team! This informal, drop-in program is the perfect opportunity to ask questions, share stories, and learn more about the park—all while taking in the beautiful view from the visitor center deck. Coffee is generously provided by our friends at Western National Parks. Help us reduce waste by bringing your own mug to make this experience even more eco-friendly. Location: Malaquite Visitor Center Duration: Drop in anytime—coffee will be available for 1 hour. Pets: Yes. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Season: Winter/Spring Reservations: No Age Recommendation: The program is geared towards adults but all ages are welcome. Cowboys and Caracaras Step back in time and explore the rich ranching history of Padre Island while keeping an eye out for the striking crested caracara and other birdlife along the way. This casual, ranger-led walk takes place at the historic Novillo Line Camp—the last remaining 19th-century line camp in the park—offering a unique glimpse into the island’s past and its vibrant wildlife. Location: Meets at Malaquite Visitor Center. Participants will then drive to the Novillo Line Camp trailhead. Duration: 90 minutes Pets: Yes. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Sunrise Yoga Awaken your senses and embrace the tranquility of the morning with our sunrise yoga class on the rooftop deck of the Malaquite Visitor Center, overlooking the sparkling waters of the gulf. You'll witness the sun rising over the horizon as you cultivate inner peace and vitality in this picturesque setting. Led by a certified yoga instructor, this one-hour, unique experience harmonizes mind and body through gentle movement and stretching, accompanied by the soothing sound of the ocean.
