
Locomotive Ranger Program
Golden Spike National Historical Park
Experience the wonder of classic Victorian steam locomotives and be transported back in time to 1869 when America was newly united the world's first transcontinental railroad. The locomotives will run along approximately two miles of the historic grade where visitors will have the opportunity smell, hear, see and feel the power of these historic machines.
Locomotive Ranger Programs are given throughout the summer starting May 1st and ending by mid-October. The locomotives undergo periodic maintenance during the summer, please refer to our Boiler Wash Schedule to see if one of the locomotives will not be available to the public. Each ranger led locomotive demonstration and program lasts from 20 to 45 minutes.
Standard vehicle entrance fees apply, all federal lands passes are accepted.

The Last Spike Site and Locomotive Demonstration Area is fully accessible via a paved sidewalk and viewing area.
Yes — Pets are allowed at the Last Spike Site and on park trails. All pets must be on a leash and visitors are required to clean up after their pets.
