Attend a George Washington Birthplace Ranger Program

Ranger-guided programs give visitors an in-depth look into the stories of the park and the people that have lived on the land for generations. Program Schedule Memorial House Museum Open Wednesday through Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Visit the Memorial House Museum and explore two centuries of efforts to honor George Washington’s legacy at his birthplace. Inside, you can meet a Park Ranger and learn about the museum's opening during the celebration of Washington's bicentennial birth anniversary in 1932. Check our event calendar to see which days guided walking tours will be offered, or call us at 804-224-1732 ext. 227. Ranger-guided tours begin at 11:00 a.m. at the visitor center on scheduled days. Planning to attend a ranger guided tour? Tours typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour and involve walking less than half a mile on a trail primarily composed of crushed gravel. If you have accessibility needs or concerns, please consult a ranger at the front desk to learn about available accommodations. To participate in a program, please stop by the visitor center. Most tours start on the lower deck of the visitor center overlooking Popes Creek. Programs are conducted rain or shine, with the majority of the tour taking place outdoors. In case of inclement weather, programs will be held in the visitor center theater. The park also hosts special events and programs throughout the year.
