Picnicking at the Birthplace

Spending the day at the park? Bring a lunch and enjoy the scenery of the Picnic Area. General Information Picnic Tables: Yes Grills: Yes Picnic Pavilion: Yes Restrooms: Yes (closed in winter) Water Fountain: Yes (closed in winter) Groups of 25 or more may need a Special Use Permit Pets are allowed, they must be on a leash at all times. Picnic area is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday, Admission is free. Picnic Pavilion The Picnic Pavilion is first-come, first-serve. If you have a group of 25 or more, a special permit may be required. Things to Know “Holding” or unofficially reserving tables in the picnic area for other individuals is prohibited. Free standing shade structures are permitted in the picnic area, provided that they are no larger than 10'x10'. Stakes or pegs used as anchors must be less than 9" in length and 1" in diameter. Fires are only permitted in the park-supplied grills or personal grills brought by visitors. Grills must be monitored at all times. Fires must be fully extinguished and the ashes left in place. Hammocks are prohibited. Never feed wild animals, including birds and squirrels. Store all food when not in use. Animals that become dependent on human food may become aggressive toward people. Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site.
