A trip to Jamestown is not complete without visiting the Nathalie P. & Alan M. Voorhees Archaearium, Historic Jamestowne’s award-wining archaeology museum. The museum features more than 4,000 artifacts recovered from the James Fort site since the beginning of the Jamestown Rediscovery project in 1994. The exhibits are updated periodically to reflect recent archaeological discoveries, so even those who have visited previously are likely to find something new! Admission Visiting the Archaearium is included with the purchase of any admission ticket to Historic Jamestowne, with the exception of school groups. Educators wishing to learn more about seeing the Archaearium with school groups should visit the educational tour opportunities page. Location The Archaearium is on the western side of the main historical area (toward the right after crossing the footbridge from the Visitor Center). Located beyond the fort site, it is approximately 1/2 of a mile walk from the Visitor Center. Hours See the Operations Update for more information. Recommended visit time Seeing the Archaearium generally takes 45 minutes to an hour. However those wishing to explore the exhibits more thoroughly may prefer to leave 1.5 or more hours to view the museum. Photography Photography is permitted in the museum, except in the exhibit containing human remains. This gallery is marked with signs indicating that photography is prohibited.
