The Maggie L. Walker Historic Home Tour is a guided tour of the home where Maggie L. Walker spent the last 30 years of her life with her family. The tour consists of the park film and a 40-minute journey through the home exploring both floors and most rooms in the house.
Ranger-guided tours of Maggie L. Walker's home are offered on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., with each tour lasting approximately one hour. Tours begin at our Visitor Center at 600 N. 2nd St., with a viewing of our 20-minute orientation film, "Carry On," and end with a tour of Walker's home on E. Leigh St., around the corner from the Visitor Center. Each tour will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum of 10 people per tour. Group tours for 10 or more people are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Two weeks' notice is required. To make a group tour reservation, please e-mail.

The tour of the Maggie L. Walker tour takes place on both stories of the home. The lower floor is accessible with a ramp to access the back door, however, the second floor is not accessible because of a narrow staircase. In lieu of access to the second floor, a book is available back at the visitor center that shows the upstairs rooms and the ranger at the visitor center can answer questions and guide through the book.
