Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve

Become and Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve Junior Ranger! Discover the people who first called this place home. Discover how glaciers shaped the land. Discover the Salish Sea. Discover how settlers came to land and build their homes here. Discover Ebey's!

Discover Ebey's! Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve is the only one of it's kind in the United States. The Reserve encompasses 17,500 acres, but nearly 85% of the land is privately owned. The Central Whidbey Historic District is at the heart of the Reserve and features over 400 buildings on the historic register - everything from barns and farm buildings to Victorian homes. One of the oldest towns in the state of Washington is at it's center - the town of Coupeville. Much of the landscape remains as it was over 150 years ago. Indigenous People of the area can be traced back nearly 12,000 years when the Columbia Mammoth roamed the land. From the wharf in Coupeville, visitors may see a whales, seals and sea lion in Penn Cove. Pick up your Junior Ranger Activity Book at one of the following locations: 1. The Cottage at Sunnyside (162 Cemetery Rd., Coupeville) 2. Island County Historical Museum (908 Alexander St., Coupeville) 3. Coupeville Chamber Visitor Center (905 Alexander St., Coupeville) 4. Jacob and Sarah Ebey House (open seasonally) or download the worksheets.
