Walk the grounds and stand where history happened. Spot wildlife flitting from tree to tree, hiding in the grass, or sunning on the trail. Reflect while surrounded by an expansive view of the Walla Walla Valley. Informational wayside signs line the trail throughout the site providing context for what you see. On the Mission Grounds Loop, you will find the footprints of the historic mission buildings, the restored mill pond and irrigation system, and restored apple orchard. At the base of the hill lies the burial site of those who were killed in the attack on the mission as well as William H. Gray, his wife, and others who lived in the area. A beautiful view of the surrounding area will greet you along with the Whitman Monument when you reach the top of the hill. Before beginning your walk, don't forget to stop by the visitor center to grab a brochure with a map of the park! To ensure the safety of all visitors, we ask that you do not bike, skate, skateboard, or ride a scooter on the trails.
