Fossil Butte Visitor Center Exhibits

Fossil Butte National Monument

Stop by the visitor center to see the fossils of the animals that lived in Fossil Lake 52 million years ago.

The visitor center has over 400 fossils on display. Take the time to look around and see the many organisms that lived in ancient Fossil Lake. Fishes are the most common fossil but there is also a wide diversity of plants as well as some birds, mammals, and reptiles that have been found as well.
