UPDATED: A very clean, very affordable martial arts school with well-trained and experienced coaches and teachers — Brave M.A.I. continues to impress me and my family. What really stands out is the humility and friendliness of everyone here. There are no ego issues, just a strong sense of respect and community. My kids have grown more confident through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and are having a ton of fun learning. Professor Rodrigo is a man of action who leads by example — no fluff, just solid technique and leadership. The kids’ instructors, Jer and Shawna, are amazing at what they do. The kids respect them and really respond to their teaching style. I also appreciate how Jer takes the time to help adults like me during the Saturday morning classes. Recently, I've also started training in the new boxing program, and it's been a game-changer. The curriculum is well-structured and challenging, and Coach Tony brings high energy, skill, and real-world experience to every session. He’s passionate, hands-on, and always encouraging — whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, you’ll feel supported and motivated. Thank you to everyone at Brave M.A.I. for being the brave and the best — your dedication to excellence, respect, and growth truly makes this place special.
Both my boys train BJJ at Brave. The instructors are all very skilled and humble and the gym is very clean and spacious. Professor Rodrigo is an exceptional coach and mentor and has been instrumental in the development of our sons’ knowledge, technique, and sportsmanship.
Best phone call I ever made! Amazing Boxing Gym, spacious and clean. Rodrigo the owner is very nice, experienced and Tony, the boxing coach, is just one of the nicest person I ever met. They are both very passionate about training and it really reflects in their work. Tony may be nice but don’t be fooled, he will train the heck out of you! If you are thinking about taking up boxing, I would most definitely recommend giving Tony a shot. I was not sure what to expect, I was shy and scared but Tony really made me feel safe and supported me every step of the way. Now, I’m just loving it, every minute of it even if Tony is driving me to exhaustion each session. I wanted private sessions because I wanted the coach to really focus on just me and push me… well, that’s exactly what I got! Careful what you wish for. If you want to read a bit more, here’s my story: Been thinking about taking boxing for over 2 years when I finally found the Brave Martial Art Institute website. I was looking for a gym within 15 mn from my house with private training and when I say private I mean just the coach and I in the entire gym, not sharing the gym with other “private sessions”. I was shy and did not want anyone around when training. The Website was great, pictures looked nice, gym looked huge, was only 12mn away and they offered private training, it had everything I’ve been looking for. I decided to call them, spoke with the owner Rodrigo, told him what I was looking for and he told me that Tony would contact me at the end of the day. As promised, Tony called and explained that when doing private sessions, there would be no one else in the gym but us which was just amazing but I was a bit anxious about the price, I mean, the entire gym for myself with a coach… I was expecting at least $100 or more per hour and to my surprise, it was only $60 for an hour which is very reasonable. I had no more excuses, all my criteria were met, close to my place, private training and great pricing. I decided to book a training and take it from there. Finally met with Tony face to face, he came in with a white board with the entire hour planned, I was not expecting that, I thought he was going to test my cardio, ask questions, like an assessment. Well not really, it was an assessment but included in a regular training session, he really pushed me to my limits, I was not expecting such an intense work out on the first day but it was just amazing. Having someone pushing you, motivating you, even just watching you, I mean c’mon, you can’t just give up, you got to show him what you’re made of! Tony really knows how to keep you moving, every week he changes the training with new exercises, movements, techniques, it is never the same work out twice. He is so passionate and easy to work with, his positivity and energy will make the training so much more enjoyable and fun. I personally love when Tony slaps me on my stomach with a pool noodle during my abs workouts! I’ve been training with Tony twice a week for about 2 months now, my cardio improved so much (not hard when I had no cardio to begin with), lost weight, I’m faster, stronger, have more energy. I had been working out at the gym with weights for the past 4 years, consistently 4 to 5 times a week but when it comes to boxing, your weight training means nothing. The difference between lifting weights 8 times in a row with a 45 sec break between sets and trying to survive for 3 minutes in a ring consistently punching and moving, it is just night and day. Even if you are not planning on becoming a pro boxer, you should definitely give boxing a try just as a work out on top of your weight work out. It is going to make you such a healthier person. You need to think about the future, it is not just about now but about when you will turn 50 years old. You need to start your work out routine now in order to build a strong body for later. If you read up to this then stop reading and call them now! Thanks, Thomas
Coming from years studying karate and then traditional jujitsu... when I was looking for a new place to take me on my next journey in the martial arts I was immediately welcomed by the staff and other students alike. Really great vibe this place friendly camaraderie between all of the students. Great energy and you can sense that everyone has a great attitude and wants to work hard. A great mix of people from all backgrounds enjoying the training put on by amazing instructors (Rodrigo, Kru Mel, Bak, Shawna). They made me feel at home right away and I am excited to train there and continue on for the next phase of my martial arts passion. I recommend that place if you’re into BBJ, MMA or kickboxing !
