Small bookstore but you can search their website beforehand if you are looking for a specific book. So many restaurants and shops close by on Frankfort Ave if you want to make more than just the bookstore visit to the area.
“I’m up at Carmichael’s tryna get on the same page” 🎶 They’ve got notebooks, cards, classics, puzzles, games, “world’s smallest” series, a section for kids, postcards, T-shirts, tote bags, and even free stickers! But my favourite item is probably the “Louisville-opoly” edition of monopoly. I love the idea and I’ve only seen that edition sold at a couple other places. You can also buy Bri Bower’s Carmichael’s stickers here, or the same images in a puzzle.
Very small shop. Staff was helpful. They didn't have a large selection for the reading level I was looking for. They've got a ton of board books, picture books, and middle school aged books, but barely anything for early chapter readers.
Perfect little independent bookstore! The selection of books here is wonderful; you can find plenty of minority and queer books/authors in all genres as well as puzzles, stickers, and gifts. The back section is for kids books and is so cute and cozy! There is a small section of Kentucky history books but most of the space seems to be dedicated to nonfiction. They also host book signings throughout the year, and sometimes bring in some big names.
I love this bookstore and have since I was a kid. I've found many treasures on the shelves and have met quite a few personal heroes thanks to their events. Most recently was meeting Democratic Candidate for Senate Charles Booker, and getting his novel signed. I value every memory made here.
