Was a small little place, very busy, very cramped. We decided to take food to go. There was a line for the one bathroom that worked. The line moved pretty slow, but thats not any fault of their own. People struggled to find space to stand. Busy is good, but, the person at the counter seemed annoyed we wanted it to go (asked us two additional times after we said to go, kind of frowned). No hi or welcoming staff. Probably having a hectic day though. One person working in the back kept audibly sighing and grumbling The cloud 9 cake was good, but not memorable. There was nothing really standout that made me want to go back, felt more like I was a nuisance when it was finally our turn to order. I really wanted to like this place more, but when I drive up a couple hours just to buy some groceries and eat at fun places, I'd hope the vibe would have been better. Workers seemed very unhappy and some audibly grumbled and sighed in frustration.
The staff is my favorite part about visiting this place but the dessert and drinks are almost just as great! The atmosphere is so cute, the prices aren't too bad considering how much work goes into making everything.
I have to agree with all of the reviews that I’m seeing this place is like style over substance in A Brick and mortar. The desserts look exceptional, but they’re bland and pretty boring to taste. The moose is nothing special and the flavors that are advertised don’t come through strongly Christmas tree is supposed to be pinapple coconut. I didn’t really taste either one. The passionfruit cheesecake I’m confused how they call that passionfruit and how they would call that a cheesecake. There’s no crust of any kind. And there’s literally no taste of passionfruit at all it’s just like eating vanilla mousse And then the peach thing it tastes like you’re eating whipped cream So like for pictures and stuff they’re beautiful. Look at the beautiful pictures but would I go back and get more NAH probably not. The staff was pretty friendly though
I'll admit that I got suckered in by the hype of this place, and am a little disappointed I didn't research the fruit pastries more closely. We purchased the mango tango and the dark chocolate with raspberry. The mousse was dense, but nothing special (for those from the Southeast, the dark chocolate tasted very similar to a chocolate mousse pie), and the mango was super tart. We purchased two of the brulee slices- OG and Oreo. They were... Ok. Texture of the actual cheesecake was good but the brulee aspect fell flat. The crust was also heavy and dry, lacking the crispness associated with a luxurious bite of decadent cheesecake. Lastly, we purchased one of each type of the offered cookies for the day-Ube, white chocolate, and chocolate chip. These were probably the best offered desserts, especially the ube, but once again... I left feeling a little lackluster over the experience. Despite the food being a letdown, the service was exceptional. If you are not a native to Portland, I'd bypass this place due to limited parking, fighting traffic getting in and out of the city, and avoiding being a victim of over hyped food.
This is definitely a hype-beast influencer type place. I have to agree with the reviews here. Depending on when you visit, it’s a hit and miss. During this visit, the employers were super nice and inviting but the parking sucks. There are a lot of cool shops around the area, so walking from a couple of blocks down is okay and recommended. I did like that the place was clean and the theme of the place, but the prices did not fit the taste for me. They did look super fun and cool, but the prices are not matching the hype. I give it a 5 out of 5 for Uniqueness and we do need more places like this in Oregon, but there’s still something missing. Their target audience definitely is teenage and younger people.
