I love my home gym! Limited bouldering section, but the route setters do a great job with the space they have. My only request is to change up the music sometimes! Or add more to the playlist or something!
Climb So iLL at the Power Plant is an absolutely fantastic rock climbing destination! We visited for an office event and it exceeded all expectations. The place is vibrant, colorful and full of positive energy. Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced climber, there’s something for everyone. Both kids and adults had a blast—there are challenges suited for all age groups and skill levels. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and ensures everyone feels comfortable and safe. The facility is clean, well-organized and the overall atmosphere is energetic and motivating. It’s not just about climbing—it’s about fun, fitness and pushing your limits in a supportive environment. Great for team-building events, family outings or even solo sessions. Highly recommended!
I visited Climb So iLL for the first time and, unfortunately, didn’t have a great experience. The gym itself is fine - the bouldering area is fairly limited, and there are a few auto-belay routes around the 5.9 range. There are also top rope and lead-only routes that looked great, but I wasn’t allowed to climb them. When we arrived, not knowing how limited the bouldering section was, we said we were just planning to boulder - mainly because the staff asked us to demonstrate the auto-belay clipping. Later, when we asked to take the belay test so we could access the rope routes, we were told we couldn’t because we had already started bouldering and had been in the gym more than 15 minutes. That was apparently gym policy - but it wasn’t communicated to us at check-in. To make it worse, the staff used our earlier comment about “just bouldering” as the reason to deny the belay test, which felt frustrating since we were just answering a direct question without understanding how limited that choice would be. I’m based in California, have been climbing for 6 years and have never run into a policy like this. It felt unnecessarily strict and poorly explained. A heads-up at the start would have made a big difference.
Hands-down one of the coolest places I’ve found near the old City Hospital in St. Louis. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is super welcoming—whether you’re a total beginner or experienced climber, you immediately feel like you belong here. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional, always ready to help or guide you without any judgment. What really stands out is the sense of community—everyone takes turns climbing, encourages each other, and there’s a respectful, almost unspoken rhythm to how people interact. It’s like being part of this awesome little niche climbing family. They also offer bouldering, yoga classes (which I’m doing!), and a beautifully designed space that makes the whole experience feel modern and inspiring. It’s not just a climbing gym—it’s a space to move, grow, and connect. If you’re even thinking about trying climbing or want a place to hang out with genuinely good people, this is it.
$34? For a day pass and gear (shoe rental included) Staff has you sign some waivers and explains how the auto belay system works… then just sends you on your way. A couple climbs with the auto system, but you’d probably want a (certified?) friend come along for a lot of the climbs. Came right at open on a weekend. It was busy but not terribly so Staff was friendly as well
