I got my first ink done at Dogstar over 20 years ago, when they're we're at a different location. Loved it, great artwork and great experience overall. Finally got my second tattoo about 5 years ago, and since then I've gone back for two more tattoos and two separate ear piercings as well. I've taken my wife and daughters in for their tattoos and piercings also. The place is clean and professional, everyone has always been friendly and they do beautiful work.
I recently got my first non-ear piercing at Dogstar. I was nervous but had an excellent experience with Emity! It was easy to book online and check in. Their website outlines their booking policies very clearly. Emity made sure to walk me through all of the starter jewelry options without pushing more expensive options. She educated me on why I couldn't do a nostril hoop right away and walked me through their cleaning practices. In the piercing room I felt safe, comfortable, and noticed that she was always sanitizing as she went. She practiced good hand hygiene, outlined the steps she'd take for the piercing, then walked me through them again gently as we went. The piercing was speedy and as painless as it could be. She answered all of my aftercare questions and provided info on checking in and changing the piercing in the future without making me feel rushed. Checkout was painless, too. With cost of service, jewelry, and 20% tip, my nostril piercing totaled about $100 give or take. This was a great experience and I'm glad I went with Dogstar! EDIT 12/23: Unfortunately, Emity is no longer with Dogstar but I went back for a checkup and anatomy assessment with Sam, and my experience was still excellent in every way! Sam knows their limits, was very helpful, and super communicative throughout my piercing process. I'll definitely be back with them again!
I definitely don’t recommend coming here. We’ve been several times and almost every time we’ve had some kind of problem. The first time we got tattoos and my husband’s had some kind of reaction. When we told the receptionist, all they said was “there shouldn’t be a reaction because it’s vegan”…even though that doesn’t mean people won’t be allergic. We called the manager about it and she told us to pour ALCOHOL on it. Later, we came for a nose piercing. It ended up coming out two weeks later when we were out of town. The piercer basically told us “you’re on your own” and refused to help. We stopped coming after that, but then a friend suggested a new piercer here so we figured we’d give it another try. Bad idea. Had a bad reaction to that piercing and the jewelry they put in was causing a lot of pain, and this piercer also refused to help. All they said was keep doing what I’d been doing to clean it. 2 weeks later it was worse, and I ended up having to take the piercing out entirely.
I’ve gotten multiple piercings here. Nic and Sam are both amazing. The entire staff are thoughtful and considerate in every way. When I had an old piercing that didn’t require a new hole, they opened it for me without charge. And they offer follow up appointments for free and contact info for any questions. The jewelry is top quality, which is especially important for my metal allergies. I recommend them constantly. Friends rave about their tattoos as well.
Best tattoo experience I’ve had ever! This is not your dad’s biker tattoo parlor. It is clean, open, inviting and, as a woman, I felt very comfortable in the environment - you know what I mean, ladies! From start to finish, everyone was friendly and professional, but you could tell by the way they interacted with the customers and each other, that they love their jobs. Shout out to my artist, Hayden!! She spent all the time that was needed going over my vision, combining different elements together and then putting her own unique spin on the art. She made sure we were on the same page before beginning. It never felt rushed and she was such a pleasure to speak with during the process. The time flew by and before I knew it, I had 2 gorgeous tattoos that I will treasure. Thank you, Hayden and the rest of the team!!!
