Very comfortable and easy to fold away every morning. I just use it directly on our carpet without any additional tatami mat. Was initially worried when it first arrived as it looked quite thin, but as stated in the product information this was due to the way it was packed for posting. It fluffed out with a bit of time out of the packaging.
I bought two tatami from Japanache. I wish I knew about this gem earlier, it would have made my tatami purchase journey a lot easier (I was looking for the right ones for months). Richard was incredibly helpful with the order. The tatami arrived from QLD to VIC quickly and he kindly followed up to make sure everything went well. The tatami are absolutely amazing and the smell of isuga is heavenly. Thank you Japanache!
Always wanted to try a futon after seeing endless videos on the benefits so when my old king size mattress needed to be replaced, it was with a twin setting of single tatami mats, futon and quilts (perfect fit in the bed base) and I can't be happier. The best part is not being disturbed by mattress movement which makes for a better night of undisturbed sleep. The quilt is very warm, I sleep on top with just a sheet over me and this is great for summer, I imagine myself being super cosy in winter! As for the whole changing from cushy mattress with plush topper to the tatami and futon - it maybe took a week to 10 days to find new sleeping positions where I am now almost 100% comfy - I get hip pain sometimes if side sleeping but I can blame that on my weight. As a temporary measure, I currently have my old mattress topper folded in half under my futon for extra cushioning. Quilt and futon get super plump under the sun on their weekly airing.
Absolutely love our futon. Richard was great to deal with. Explained everything in detail and all the options for our delivery. Service was prompt. From ordering to delivery. Arrived well packaged safely. Would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to get off an inner spring. Best decision for my body and sleep.
