sarah was amazing! so welcoming, friendly, and clear with her instructions. this was my first pilates class ever and i loved it!
I haven’t done Pilates in years, and after struggling with a physical illness, I felt that returning to Pilates would be beneficial for my health. This studio is close to my home, so when I saw the two-week all-access pass advertised on their website, I decided to try it. According to the website, the pass does not begin until your first visit or class. I purchased the pass and completed my first orientation class on January 10th. To my surprise, I later discovered that my pass was set to expire on January 15th, which is only five days—not two weeks. I was told this happened because I had scheduled a class on January 1st and was placed on a waitlist. I canceled the class while still waitlisted, and the app clearly stated there would be no penalty since I was not booked. I even took a screenshot confirming this. Despite that, I was charged $10. I called the studio to explain the issue. The woman I spoke with was kind and offered to speak with the manager about refunding the $10. The charge was eventually refunded, which I appreciated. While $10 may not seem like much to some, it does matter to me. However, no one explained that this situation would also mark the start of my two-week pass, and I cannot find any policy on the website stating that a waitlisted class triggers the start of the pass. When I followed up for clarification, I was told someone would get back to me. When I called again, the man I spoke with was immediately dismissive and had a condescending tone. He claimed he had sent me a text, which I never received, and then essentially told me to “take it or leave it.” He repeatedly emphasized that I should be grateful the $10 was refunded, even though he said it was against their policy—a policy that is not clearly stated anywhere. He also told me that the two classes I attended were worth more than what I paid for the two-week pass and implied that I should simply be thankful. I tried to explain that this was not about getting “free” classes—it was about transparency, accountability, and being treated with respect. He offered me two additional classes, but that completely missed the point. What was most upsetting was the way I was spoken to. The refund was repeatedly thrown back in my face as if it were a personal favor, and I was made to feel small and unwelcome. This interaction reflected a broader issue I’ve experienced in many Pilates and wellness spaces: classism and exclusion, where working-class people—especially women of color—are subtly talked down to or treated as though they should feel lucky just to be there. I am a working-class Latina woman, and I have been driving the children of this community for over ten years. I deserve to be treated with the same respect as any other client. I came to this studio seeking healing, movement, and care—not judgment or condescension. My boyfriend was planning to purchase a membership for me as a birthday gift, but after this experience, that is no longer something I feel comfortable doing. I am looking for a Pilates space where I feel welcomed, respected, and supported—regardless of my background or income level. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling dismissed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome, and that is not what was advertised or promised. I do not recommend this space. Save your hard earned money and go somewhere that cares for the community.
These people, LiveMetta are beyond professional and helpful. Mary Jo Is an exceptionally gifted Master Trainer. Thank you for being user friendly for Continuing education. It is a pleasure doing my CEC’s with LiveMetta and Mary Jo.
Took a pilates workshop by Mary Jo, Reformer for Senior Adults and she's one of the best CE instructors I've seen. I love the fact that we can do these Workshops online as then I can get the quality of instruction LiveMetta presents rather than relying only on local Workshops.
¡Estoy enganchado!
