Our daughter started taking classes about a month ago and really loves it! This is really the first extracurricular activity she has shown continued excitement for and comes home to practice on her own. We cannot wait to see how she progresses with the new skills and confidence she has already gained.
I cannot speak highly enough about this place. The positives are endless. I have a 6 yo girl and an 8 yo boy in the program. The programs run from quite young and I’ve seen folks across several generations. In this context, this is one of the greatest gateways into the SoDu (south Durham) community that I have found since moving here in 2017 from ATL. If you know about sodu, then let me just say this is on the money sodu representation. If you don’t know about sodu, this is an incredibly inclusive and positive environment. Regarding the instruction: it may feel chaotic on first interaction, but don’t let that fool you. It is a well oiled machine. Regarding staff: 100% A+. True dedication to the art, and clear compassion for the students. Regarding value: while I respect that the price to enter is absolutely a hurdle, I genuinely feel the value is incredible. Our kids attend 2x week and it is perfect. Regarding impact for the kids: I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know what Tae Kwon Do was. I was totally ignorant and generally just thought of karate kid (I am a child of the 80s 🤣). I now know and have seen the light. Simply put, “this is the way.” More adequately, this is one of the greatest enrichment activities I’ve run across for the kids. And let me just say, I have a lot of experience (soccer, swimming, music, etc.). For details: the first class is free. I recommend going with a friend. It is a bit of a shock the fist time because the energy and movement is high, but I can confidently say it is not chaos. You should try this place out.
This is such an amazing place! My child loves it and so do I! They are very professional and encouraging. The Masters are amazing. I love how respect, discipline and hard work are a part of everything they do. My son has definitely benefitted from being there. The Best!!
We have been going to this studio for 3 years now and every year it just gets better and better. Not only are Master Oh and Master Jeung the nicest people, but they are incredible instructors. We first started here with our oldest son when he was 4 years old and quite unruly. The focus on self control, respect, breathing, and mental focus has been incredible for him with each and every lesson. There were times we considered other activities but there is no other activity that we have done with him that has such a passion for self control. The minute his sister was old enough to join in she happily dawned the white pants and shirt and hopped right in! We love Modu and everyone in it, and have recently started the after school program for the next school year. We are excited for it as it truly is an accessibly priced after school program that offers a wide range of activities for the kids as well as inlcuded TAquondo! Thank you Master Oh and Master Jeung for everything and we are looking forward to years to come for the whole family. They offer a free trial class for anyone who is curious, but I warn you that after they try it your child won't want to leave.
An excellent martial arts school! Master J and Master O are very focused on helping kids and adults learn Taekwondo! It takes a lot of hard work, focus, self-discipline, and determination but if you are willing to do whatever it takes to learn, the Taekwondo masters are patient with you and will help you reach your goal! I also like how they teach kids to honor and respect their parents. I give Modu Martial Arts a five star rating. They are the best Martial Arts School in Durham.
