Roto-Rooter has been corporatized, so you never talk to the local plumbers, and the corporate telephone operators make promises they can't keep. I had a sewer backup just as a severe cold spell was approaching. During cold spells, I need to keep the faucets dripping to prevent pipes from freezing in my 125-year-old house. I can't do that when the sewer is backing up. A "supervisor" showed up within 80 minutes of my call, saying the plumbers were about an hour behind. Over 20 hours, I received 4 texts and made 2 phone calls, each saying I was next in line. We had heavy snow overnight, and 15 minutes after their last "you are next in line" message, they called to say they weren't coming. Granted, a snow emergency was declared about 18 hours after my first call to Roto-Rooter, so yes, it was a real snow. However, snow did not significantly accumulate for 12-14 hours after the first call—well after their initial promises to arrive. So this 67-year-old Professor Emeritus got in his car after the snow accumulation, drove to a big box store, bought an $800 motorized auger, hauled the thing to the basement, read the instructions, and cleared the drain. I called Roto-Rooter back and told them not to bother coming and to cancel the call. Roto-Rooter is no longer controlled by your local plumbers—it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chemed Corp. (CEO Kevin McNamara, 2024 pay: $12,688,480). Do yourself a favor—call a local plumbing company. They are much less likely to lie to you.
Our water heater went out on a Sunday afternoon, and Roto-Rooter had a technician here within an hour. Warren was great! He was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took time to explain everything and addressed our issue promptly. It's rare to find someone so dependable and kind, especially on a weekend. Highly recommend!
Nothing better than a clean unobstructed sink. My kitchen and bathroom sinks would not drain. Called Tom Drexler, had an apt, left early form work and they called me 45 mins after they were supposed to be there to help me and said they were busy so they would see me Monday. I was beside myself. So I called Roto-Rooter. Chad and Kenneth showed up 45 mins later and took care of a nasty clog. They were professional, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Those two earned a customer for life for Roto-Rooter with exceptional customer service. Today went from a bad day to a good day thanks to Roto-Rooter, Chad and Kenneth!!! 100% recommend!
