We LOVE Algonquin! We have been clients since 2010. The staff is fantastic; they are caring and compassionate. Dr. McIntosh is next level and we trust him whole heartedly. He is extremely knowledgeable, he takes the time to listen, and answer any questions we have. He has cared deeply for all of our pets over the years. He doesn’t suggest unnecessary testing, but when he found a mass, he referred us to the best cancer surgeon. We would highly recommend Algonquin Animal Hospital.

My regular veterinarian here is wonderful, very helpful and takes the time to answer all my questions. However I did have an unpleasant experience with another vet after I had to make an emergency appointment. My regular vet was on holidays, so I booked with a different vet. My dog had an eye issue, so she said she’ll have to administer fluorescein dye to examine it. Little did I know, until after the fact, that I was being charged for this. She made no mention of this before the fact, in which case I would have declined. Also, when I had questions about a related condition of hers, she didn’t have answers. Instead she was on her phone reading answers off of a Google search. I could have done that at home for $180 less than my entire visit. Aside from that, all the other staff have been very helpful and friendly. I hate to drag my review down because of this one vet, however it is a bad reflection and stain on the business as a whole and should be treated as such.

Despite having previously discussed with the vet the fact that I cannot afford a rabies vaccine for my elderly cat who needs arthritis injections and been told that's fine and they can waive that under the circumstances they have suddenly changed their chance and are now allowing my cat to suffer rather than giving her the injection as discussed. Don't trust them. They will tell you one thing and do another. My cat doesn't even have teeth but tell me again how she needs a rabies vaccine to protect the staff.

The annual check up for my 5 year old dog was exemplary from the greeting at the front desk to the experience with the veterinarians. My dog is nervous, and the staff were very skilled at meeting his needs and ensuring his examination was thorough and a chance for my dog to learn new behaviour because he felt safe. And, I am always gratified that informed consent is the framework for the relationship with the vet. This clinic provides A+ care.
