I attended my first Ashtanga practice today. I came in quite nervous that it would be intimidating, but Emma immediately put me at ease. I felt so supported and encouraged, and it was super accessible! Will definitely be back ❤️
I recently completed the beginners Ashtanga yoga course with Kirsten and couldn’t recommend it more. The pace of the course was spot on, Kirsten created a really supportive environment where each week built naturally on the last. I always felt comfortable asking questions and taking my time to learn. Thanks to this solid introduction, I felt confident enough to join the Mysore-style sessions. Two months in, I’m now attending three times a week and loving the routine of developing my own practice at my own pace. Mysore practice is both grounding and challenging. I’ve learned it’s not just about getting the posture ‘right,’ but about being present and in tune with my body and breath. The instructors – Kirsten, Emma, and Vanessa – have all been incredibly supportive, observant, and welcoming. Each brings a slightly different energy, which has really helped me grow in different ways. If you’re curious about Ashtanga but unsure where to start, I highly recommend the beginners course. For me, Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh is calm, friendly, and inclusive.
This is an authentic Ashtanga Mysore studio with highly skilled and welcoming teachers. As a long term older practitioner, I value being challenged and supported in my practice whilst also being encouraged to adapt as needed. The studio encourages diversity and inclusion and there is a strong emphasis on attention to individual needs rather than a ‘one way fits all’ approach. The studio encourages Yoga beyond the mat via teachings in philosophy and chanting as well as community building. I feel very fortunate to have found Ashtanga Yoga Edinburgh and if I could, I would come every day.
The team at AYE are amazing. I love coming along to practice in the shala when I can, there is a real sense of community and lovely energy in the room. The teaching team are super knowledgeable and have a wonderful approach to teaching Ashtanga that truly meets your individual needs. With their guidance I have a sustainable Ashtanga practice that helps me feel at my best.
