A great karate dojo, the owner and lead sensei Kevin is super nice and very patient.

I became a student in January of 2025. I have practiced in the 70's and early 90's in TKD. I have joined Carolina Martial Arts Center based on observation, and three introductory classes at no cost. Very wise and beneficial to be allowed participation before financial commitment, great policy. It also allows the Sensei and other members to evaluate the individual for various areas of Character, Physical condition, and needs and desires of the individual. I have personal insight of the " karate kids". What a excellent and practical choice for parents to know that the Traditional Martial Arts with unending growth throughout life is rare. The Morals of the Dogo are an experience for all students, but set a life of expectations and pride by youth and all ages in areas that are not society taught necessarily in schools or in other environments or activities. I can testify personal motivation and example of improvement in youth and adults looking out for each other. Peers are all truly their to provide assistance and safety of all students. I have at 63 certain disabilities, and care and consideration as do others. Great students of disabilities included with classes of those not anything less than meeting the Morals of the Dojo. All classes are instructed and observation for all students. All have criteria to meet and earn their rank. An excellent Family and friends all together improving themselves with like minded members. Growth is imminent, techniques are practical for all in self defense and safety in the real world. Protecting others in family or society with morals and character of elders and or higher rank with confidence and real judgement of any student. Role models are bountiful, knowledgeable, and Honorable in their interactions with others in classes as determined by Sensei Gurganus or other Instructors. Carolina Martial Arts Center is a great benefit to all. In martial arts, unlike other activities are always providing next level knowledge in conditioning of the mind, body, and spirit, for life. For example: once you know proper weightlifting techniques, you can only add more weight. Nothing new learned and earned. Total conditioning is a side effect of the many aspects of the human experience, in Traditional Martial Arts. It's always with us in everything we do in our daily lives. It can be applied anywhere, at any time, and in some way used in any environment or situation. Glad I chose to return to Carolina Martial Arts Center. Beneficial to all regardless of age or experience.
Mr. Kevin is the best. He has the patience of Job as in the bible. He really is a great teacher and loves what he does. He ensures everyone has an opportunity to learn regardless. My daughter has been there for more than 6 years. She loves it and him to she feels heard and accepted. There are several classes Monday through Friday also classes on zoom. The Dojo is great. Come by and see for yourself. Bring your child or children they will love it too. See you there.
My 7yr old shy, timid daughter started taking classes about 5 weeks ago. She absolutely LOVES it and I love watching her in class. Sensei Kevin is amazing with all the kids in class. He's very positive and keeps the kids attention. So glad I made this decision. I think it's going to teach my daughter a lot of self discipline, how to focus more, not be so shy and timid, along with many other positive things. I highly recommend!
