An amazing club not just for the wide range of martial arts offered and the openness to move between disciplines, but the culture of train hard and support each other along the journey is its strength!! I look forward to getting back.
I have fun every time I come to training at CAIA. The people are friendly and there’s a distinct lack of macho BS which is important to me as a woman. The instructors are awesome and incredibly experienced. They’re welcoming to beginners and they give the more experienced people some killer challenges. I train mostly in Krav Maga and BJJ. Before this I trained in kickboxing elsewhere and I've trained at other dojos. CAIA is the only place for me.
First time doing a self defence class and absolutely loved it. Noah and his team are amazing, super knowledgeable and great teachers! The class was full of laughter and fun while learning valuable skills. Highly recommend!!
I love it here at combat arts, I mostly do self-defence as a 1/2hr PT with Andrew and have for about 4 years. I would do more of the classes but I don't have enough time. For people who are shy... I'm a very shy person but find it to be a really welcoming environment that isn't overwhelming. Everyone here is friendly but chill so if you are shy but want to hit things, it is a great option. I have also found it has helped me become much more confident and assertive. For people who aren't super fit or don't have a super great health status... I have some chronic pain and fatigue issues which are pretty variable from day to day. Even on my worst days when just standing upright and walking are difficult, Andrew is still able to make a really fun lesson that matches where I am physically, and he doesn't make it awkward or embarrassing. On my good days then he ups the difficulty and intensity for a really good workout and will just match his lessons to where I am on the day. There are so many different self-defence techniques which suit different people, lifestyles and abilities. You can learn how to defend yourself regardless of age, size, injury or health status. In my experience, CAIA and Andrew have been able to find what works really well for me and use that as the base, and add in things I'm not as good at but still really enjoy for fitness, fun and variety. 10/10 would recommend.
Really great place to train, great environment, challenging both mind and body. Friendly, responsible and motivating people and instructors. Instructors in particular are very experienced and knowledgeable which allows the student to gain more than just martial arts technique. They make such a useful/practical skill to learn, easy to understand the mechanics, whilst motivating you to challenge yourself in different scenarios and improve your overall fitness. The diversity of classes and workshops we can access also adds to our main discipline. Thanks CAIWA, keep up the great work!
