I started climbing a year and a half ago. I was self-conscious and anxious as an older mom (with kids in college). The staff has been incredibly supportive, welcoming and helpful with their advice & tips. Huge thanks to David, Chris, Cally, Tom for making me feel at home at Dogpatch, and for encouraging my new hobby.

I have been climber for over 8 years. I have climbed at multiple gyms throughout California including many of the touchstone ones. While I absolutely love the actual facilities at Dogpatch, I unfortunately no longer feel safe going to the gym during select times - these times being when a specific employee name David is working. I have had numerous bad experiences with him where he has acted very rude and misogynistic. As a woman I do not feel safe or comfortable to go to the gym when this man is working. If anyone who reads this is a female climber I strongly urge you to go to Pac Pipe even if it is out of the way as it is a more friendly and safer environment.

Love the boulders here, but the customer service is bad. Most (not all) but most of the employees at the front desk are extremely unpleasant. Smiling is not something that happens often, and there is one employee and young lady with dark hair who simply can’t be bothered. She doesn’t make eye contact, acts like the customers are a bother and, simply put, is just rude. I’ve been a member at Touchstone for sometime have not experienced such unpleasant service at any of the other locations. I don’t write reviews often but I’m tired of the way I’m treated coming here — like I’m not welcome. It’s bizarre, and a bummer. I wish there was another Boulder gym closer that I could switch to. Movement SF is out the way l, but seriously considering being done with this place despite the solid routes

Dogpatch Boulders is hands down one of the best climbing gyms in the Bay Area! The facility is massive, with walls for all levels—from beginner to advanced. The route setting is creative and challenging, keeping things fresh and exciting every time I visit. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help with tips or advice. The community vibe here is amazing—welcoming and encouraging, no matter your skill level. One of the highlights? They have a sauna in each of the locker rooms! It’s the perfect way to unwind after a tough session on the walls. Combine that with their clean and well-maintained gym, spacious training areas, and even a yoga studio, and this place really has it all. Highly recommend for climbers of all levels!

Had a lot of fun by myself. Not crowded on a Wednesday morning in December. So many walls/routes to choose from. Can use real chalk (unlike my local indoor climbing gym, which only allows liquid chalk). All areas (including bathrooms/locker rooms) are very clean. Temperature just right inside. The holds feel good (not greasy). The routes are fun to climb and figure out—the grades seem to scale for both technique and strength rather than just strength/height. Wish I had more time here. Looking forward squeezing in another session here the next time I’m in SF. Caveats: 5’0” petite climber. Experience: ~1.5 yrs @ average ~2 sessions per week.
