I watched two grown men reenact the gas station scene from No Country For Old Men as they smeared and baby-birded chocolate pudding between themselves. I left with a pocket full of teeth. 110/10 I would fly by to Austin just to go here again
If you are looking for a fun night in ATX, this theater is one you dont want to miss. They REGULARLY have great shows (Shout out to Garage) and the vibes are 10/10. Tickets are affordable and you genuinely get to see great comedy.
small, intimate theater with great staff. I stumbled in, by accident, and watched a comedy lineup with improv troop performances in between each comedian (happens every Wednesday). The improv sets incorporated stuff from the comedian sets so it became an extended/immersive experience.
I love Fallout! The vibes are always on point! It’s such a unique and welcoming spot. As soon as you walk in, you feel at ease, like you’re hanging out with your cool older sibling and their friends in a decked out basement. The incense, the artwork, the overall energy… it all just feels really rad and intentional. Every show I’ve seen there has felt exciting and fresh. Staff is next level considerate (thank you, Grace!) definitely get the Nuke Juice! My grandma loooved it!
Fallout Theater is really a corner stone of the Austin Comedy scene. I started going to Fallout on a whim and soon found myself going literally every week. There's a handful of shows that have such a fun personality but they have a specific Fallout flavor; F*** This Week is so cathartic for the story tellers and its just nice to be able to turn a bad-event into something fun. Those performers are really working Magic. Come @me is super fun and just connects with the audience in a very real way that's empathetic and kind but still sharp and clever (and not a roast). TGIFallout, Garage, and so many of the other shows are just real and there’s a looseness and unpredictability to them that makes every night feel different. I think that's what separates Fallout from the other theaters in Ausitn; they don't just do comedy - they build and connect with the community directly and make a space that's fun and experimental, and personal. Fallout leans into its weird underground bomb-shelter vibe to make a safe space that encourages its performers to take risks and encourages the audience to be involved with the act. Fallout Theater doesn't put on shows to be watched as much as experienced. The staff are locked into to making a space for people and extremely accommodating for show runners to take a chance. I've seen new shows like 'Whose Slide is it Anyway' go from a concept to a regularly scheduled event that's unique and fun and goofy. Fallout takes chances on people and their entire staff leans into to helping up-and-coming local comics find their feet. Fallout is part of who Austin it. It's not some world-renowned comedy engine, but it does have world class shows like Jane Austin. Fallout Theater feels local, and open, and a little scrappy. It’s a place where weird ideas thrive, where new voices are heard, and where the audience isn’t just watching; they’re part of the moment. If you're looking for the soul of Austin comedy, this is it.
