Natalie is providing me $1000s of dollars worth of personal training for $100 a month. Jalen and Kimpossible and tiny tino are three of the best front desk folks I have ever met at an establishment. Nicholas might not be able to squat as much as me when we consider range of motion, but regardless he has been an awesome dude. Caleb has been warm and welcoming from the jump. I will not be attending any other gym ever again unless I, unfortunately, were to pass away.
I’ve been trying to cancel my membership since October and had a signed cancellation. They accidentally auto drafted past my cancellation and over drafted my account. I went to get help and had a very bad experience with the kids club - which is one if not the reason I pay such high prices to be a member. I used to work in the kids club and have friends that worked there. So I am understand but also compared to daycare/kids club at other gyms I have never had such a negative experience in the past three years. I just want to actually have my cancellation and refund and not fear they are “accidentally” over drafting my bank account even tho I signed my cancellation months ago… if anyone would return my messages from the merriam location that would be great. The two things this gym has going for it are Kent at the front desk, who greets members by name with a smile, and the city view. Other than that, it will continue to deteriorate as no improvements are made until it’s just another in a long line of Genesis ruins that were once nice, independently owned clubs. I have been with Genesis long enough to understand the business model: purchase a club, invest no money, and keep trading on the reputation of the previous club’s name.
Genesis P&L is the best gym when it comes to working out in the heart of downtown KC. The staff is super friendly and has recently acquired a new GM named Will! Will always makes it his mission to get to know every member that walks in the door. The gym itself is maintained very well when it comes to cleanliness. I’ve tried a few of their group fitness classes and have really enjoyed cycle, body pump, barre, and boot camp circuit. The sauna is hot! Probably the best sauna I’ve been in since relocating out here. The equipment is nice, but hoping they upgrade their spin bikes to take this gym to a new level.
I've only been here once (so far) when I was in town for work, but a typically great gym. Lots of good equipment, clean, and between 2 and 4pm on a weekday, not terribly busy. The only complaint is that $25 for 1 workout is steep, especially in comparison to the YMCA ($15) which is only a few blocks away and offers nearly as much equipment.
