Cool little place. Just be aware when you come in with books or anything to sell.. they dont pay much. I brought some books that sell well over $100 on ebay and was only offered $3. I literally thought they were joking but I guess I was wrong. Again.. Cool store, eh on selling stuff there.
Yeah, um, nice place to hang out but I wouldn’t bring your books here to sell. Literally I had some pretty expensive/collectible art books in my pile that I was selling and literally only $27 I felt kinda peer pressured by the employees to give into it so I did it (foolish decision on my part, I know, but I was desperate to just get rid of them since I’m moving and didn’t wanna go back to goodwill but honestly I just should’ve) My pile was clearly in the $200 range and no doubt these bozos working there will likely also price it at retail minus like a dollar off. Really “half off” guys.
If you're looking for cheap books, DVDs, CDs, and/Vinyls, then Half Off Books Records Film is the place for you. The restroom is a plus. Half Off sells new and used items (mostly used) such as books, DVDs, CDs, and Vinyls. They multiple genre of books such, manga, comics, chapter books, fiction, sci-fi, horror, autobiographies, cook books, self help books, religion (different types), mystery, true story, different language, and etc. Their DVDs range about the same as their books. They are put in alphabetical order in one area of the store, and that includes anime movies, and non english movies as well. Mind you, most of the DBDs they have are used. The amount of CD and Vinyls that they have isn't as big as their books and DVD options, but there's still a good amount, and you'll always be surprised as to what you'll find. Not only does Half Of sell items, they also buy items at certain times. I believe from 10am-2pm Every now and then, Half Off will have a sales event where anything with a green sticker will be about $1. Depending on the book will depend on the price, but it's usually around $1 which is a nice added touch since most of the used books are about $5 or somewhere less than $10. One of my brothers showed me Half Off Books Records Film back in 2022, and ever since then, you'll see me there almost weekly. 100% recommend!
I called Half Off Books about holding a live reading of a few stories from my book, Among the Reeds and Other Stories of the Supernatural. I mentioned the book was on Amazon, but they were still willing to host me for the reading. The day of the event, Jason set up the area with another employee, whose name I unfortunately don't remember, and I conducted the reading. The whole store has a great vibe, and the staff is friendly. Thank you!
The name of this place is ABSOLUTELY spot on. The books, cds, vinyls, magazines, and comics they sell are all really well priced! The atmosphere is nice and cozy, with some spots to sit. I loved how organized things were, and the workers were super helpful and friendly. They even carry art books, and art books from movies! They had some pretty old magazines and vinyls as well. Super good picks!
