I was initially hesitant to write this review publicly, but after emailing and not hearing back after a few business days I decided to share my experience to avoid something else going through this. I recently had a sugar appointment in Riverbend, I've switched to J'Adore for my sugaring in the last few months. I have been getting sugared since 2017 and am extremely informed of before care and after care when it comes to sugaring. At my most recent appointment, December 19 @ 445 (original appointment scheduled for 5pm) it was just after a snow storm. I arrived ten minutes early, and the sugarist let me know she could get me in early as her appt prior to me was running late due to the weather. In the middle of my appointment for a Brazilian sugar, the sugarist left me in the room to go get the door - which is understandable. However, when she did this... she did not remove her gloves or change them upon re-entering the door, while holding the sugar in one hand. Which meant she opened the sliding wood door, opened the front door of the facility, came back slide the wood door open again and closed it with contaminated gloves. Touching multiple surfaces multiple times and failing to put new gloves on. Then returning to continue with the sugar process. I was extremely uncomfortable with her abruptly leaving the room I was totally caught off guard and it also put me in an extremely uncomfortable condition to speak up about what just happened. After my appointment, I ended up contracting an awful bacterial infection due to the cross contamination of bacteria, and have been put on two rounds of two different antibiotics since, back to back with no relief to date. This has not only affected my physical health as the antibiotics have been extremely hard on me, but also affected me in different ways. Including affecting my personal life. As well as my skin suffering which has lead to scarring on my skin. With the infection being so bad, I don't even know how much longer the healing will take. By the way things are now, it could be multiple more weeks, possibly a couple more months. I think it's extremely inappropriate this sugarist violated health codes, and did not consider the health and risks she was putting the client at by not putting the sugaring down/ or disposing of it, removing her gloves and putting new ones on when returning into the room. I'm so saddened and disappointed by this past appointment and it's been hard to even grasp myself together to reach out to review my last experience and relive the experience and what it has resulted in, as I've been dealing with it day after day since December 19th. I needed to say something before any other client is put at risk due to what happened to me. Sugaring is already an intimate experience, especially when a Brazilian, and now I feel like there was lack of care on the sugarist behalf. For someone who has been getting sugared religious for year, I am now terrified to get it done again once all my healing is completed. When speaking to my doctor, my doctor encouraged me to report this health concern to the province, but I wanted to reach out instead to forward off this information. After emailing and not hearing back I will be proceeding with my doctors recommendation after I feel like there was no initiative to contact me re this issue.
First time here and it was such a great experience. Faith was amazing and I felt very comfortable. She explained everything and was very friendly and understanding.
Great sugaring experience!! Have been here few times, seen different girls… All the staff is welcoming and helps in making things comfortable for everyone. Definitely my go to place!
Had the best experience with Shanel! She made me feel super comfortable at 8 months pregnant and there was virtually no pain! Definitely going again :)
