I've been a member of Rise for four years now, and I can't believe I've never posted a review. I came in in 2021 carrying some serious post-pandemic weight, and I knew I needed to make a change. So in my 40s (!), I joined a boxing class for the first time. I would also venture into the HIIT classes from time to time; and before I knew it, I was hooked! I will FOREVER be grateful to all the different coaches I've had while I've been attending here (Ozzy, Liz, Will, Alex, Kenny, Cheyenne, Taylor, Al, and now Whitney), you guys have all truly impacted my life in real ways. I even started jiu jitsu a few months ago, and I'm slowly getting acclimated to something that's brand new to me, but I'm super excited about it. Coach Al has been very patient with me! I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to get in shape. It's a very supportive and welcoming community, and I doubt you will find this variety of classes anywhere else!
Been training here for years and absolutely love it. The instructors all make an effort to get to know each person and help with whatever you need, be that a particular movement, muscle group, or nutrition question. They are great about altering workouts for any minor injuries I’ve had. The staff at Rise will push you to do your best and encourage growth in every class while maintaining a fun environment. I’ve seen both people who’ve just started their fitness journey and those who’ve been working out their whole lives thrive at Rise. Highly recommend
My family and I joined Rise in mid July. We were searching for a gym around DTLA for my son who has previously done BJJ. I was also looking for a gym that I could join during the same hours as him. We found a couple options around the area and Rise was our last stop. We did feel a bit lost at first when we walked in because there wasn’t anyone at the desk at the moment and every coach was busy training a class. We walked over to see some guys sparring on the mats and that’s when Al came out and introduced us to Taylor. I’m sure Taylor was in the middle of working on something as well, but he stopped and took his time to explain how the gym worked, their hours, parking location, and pricing. He was very nice from the beginning. He gave us a bit of his background as well. After speaking with him, we knew this was the right gym. They offer different classes so we can all work on whatever we like. It may be a bit pricey to some, but we’d rather spend that money there than elsewhere like eating out every weekend and spending the same amount if not more. Every coach there has their own specialty which makes it great because we get different perspectives and learn from each one based on their experience. Another reason we’ve stayed is because everyone there is friendly and helpful.
Rise Athletic is hands-down the best gym I’ve trained at. Coach Taylor is the best coach I’ve ever had — even better than the ones I trained with at Equinox. The coaching here is next level: personalized, knowledgeable, and results-driven without ever being intimidating. My coach pushes me in all the right ways, and the programming is smarter and more intentional than anything I’ve experienced elsewhere. The group classes are a huge bonus — challenging, well-run, and filled with good energy. You can tell the culture here matters: people show up, work hard, and support each other. No egos, just real progress. If you’re serious about getting stronger, moving better, and training in a great environment, Rise is it.
I’ve been going to Rise Athletics gym for three years now and I hope to continue going as long as I’m in LA. The quality of training and attention from the trainers is amazing. Whether you’re a beginner, amateur or advance there’s a place for you at Rise Athletics. In the end it’s all about you and the results is all brought by yourself. Taylor, Alex, Will, Ozzy, Elizabeth, Al helped me tap into my potential and thanks to their professionalism and guidance I feel confident with myself in achieving my health and mental goals.
