I contacted Roger Chayer Inc. Plumbing for some maintenance work. A plumber was able to come the same day, and the service was fast and efficient. Thank you!
Service and work was very good. However, I would suggest customers to ask for pricing on parts ahead of confirming appointment if you do no want to end up with surprises. The mark-up taken on parts is extreme compared to what it will cost you to get in a hardware store (I was charged close to $200 for parts that probably retail for less than $50). I am not against a mark-up but had I known they would charge this much, I would have done the work myself. Charging $15 for parts that cost 3$ seems exagerated but that is maybe just my ignorance.
My lower shower cartridge valve required replacing. The valve sat a little deeper behind ceramic. A technician attempted to change the cartridge for approximately 10 minutes and was unable to. The technician was at my home for no more than 20 minutes, after which point he told me that the only solution would be to break the ceramic around the shower and subsequently find a mason to rebuild that portion of the wall. He did not bring with him shower valve replacement wrench even though the company was advised that this was a valve replacement job. He subsequently told me he could not help me and proceeded to charge me approximately $300 dollars, while leaving my issue entirely unresolved. A second plumber came the following day with the appropriate tools (shower valve wrenches) and removed the valve within 4 minutes. Clearly there are more equipped and fair, organizations devoted to customer service operating in Montreal. While I didn’t expect this to be free, I was feel fully gouged and taken advantage of. How could I ever recommend this organization to someone else after this experience?
They were excellent! I have 30+ years in the trades, and their service call for my home furnace was of the highest standard. Their team on-site were a pleasure to work with. They had a clear familiarity with the equipment on our system, and made a rapid diagnosis and repair. I have worked with other heating contractors, and the Roger Chayer team is the best I have yet encountered.
Excellent service! Experimented plumer. We deal with Chayer on almost all repairs in de condo complex and we have no problem making good referals for them.
