The workout area is to small. They need to remove the middle room area to make it bigger.. bcuz it feels cramped . I visit the y near southdale instead bcuz its more spacious . Shower area is small . Certain locker areas r small . Locker room in general is big so it makes no sense.. needs a big renovation in all ways.. 3 stars bcuz the (ymca) vibe is off (Was harassed by a 20 or 30 something female hispanic janitor for using the bathroom) i needed privacy to use the restroom in the locked bathroom, I was in there for a couple minutes when she needed to clean it and was knocking every 1 minute while I was in there trying to take care of my business, I said it was occupied and continued to display ignorance.. she knocked very loudly 4 or 5 times smh.. very unprofessional and lacking of common courtesy, no common sense found in that display of rudeness.. 12/31/25
I absolutely love this Y. It’s so clean, the people are incredibly friendly, and it’s just a beautiful building. Highly recommend!
Today I had a bad experience with the group of people who play pickball in the morning shift. For me, the most important thing is respect and equality in every sense because those are important values and principles for every person. Today I saw that many of those who play are selfish people, and I could say they are also racist, just because I'm a different color? Or because I'm from a different culture? The point is that many of them repeatedly disregarded my turn, and I was there for an hour and could only play one game, while others were playing many more times and kept repeating. I got upset and went to talk to those in the reception area, and one of them turned his face away from me and started whispering things so I couldn't hear him. The other person didn't know what to say. In the end, there was a third person who answered me and accompanied me to explain what happened. In the end, he spoke with the other players, but my annoyance and frustration stem from the fact that many people act with little empathy and behave selfishly toward those of us who are from different cultures. I'm sharing this bad experience so that what happened to me doesn't happen to other people, and that we should be empathetic and respect everyone equally.
I’ve been a member of many health clubs over the years, but my experience at the YMCA has truly stood out — and that’s largely because of the incredible coaches who dedicate their time to helping us reach our health goals. In particular, I want to highlight the amazing Tonya C. Tonya is the kind of coach who strikes the perfect balance between encouragement and challenge. She knows how to push you past your comfort zone while making you feel supported every step of the way. Every class with her is more than just a workout — it’s a boost of confidence, a dose of motivation, and even a little therapy rolled into one. She sprinkles in wisdom and encouragement that make you believe in yourself and remind you that you can do hard things. It’s clear that Tonya pours her heart into what she does. Her energy, dedication, and genuine care for her class members elevate the entire experience. I feel so fortunate to have her as my instructor for multiple classes, and I always leave feeling stronger in both body and mind. Looking forward to many more sessions with Tonya — she truly makes the YMCA feel like a place where we grow together.
Good gym for families and individuals with convenient location. Has good selection of free weights, machines, and cardio. Class offerings are diverse and comprehensive. The pool is well maintained and bright. There are only 2 squat racks which can be busy.
