The Pumping Station antique furniture shop is genuinely one of those places that makes you stop and go wow as soon as you walk in. It is absolutely breathtaking and feels less like a shop and more like stepping into a different world. Walking through it honestly felt like wandering diagonally in Harry Potter mixed with a Fallout settlement, where every corner has something weird, wonderful and full of history. The range of stuff in there is unreal. You have vintage games and toys that bring back childhood memories, alongside beautiful old furniture that looks like it has a hundred stories to tell. There are ornaments, old football shirts, army uniforms, jewellery and loads of items from the 19th and 20th century that make you feel like you are walking through a living museum rather than a shop. What makes it even better is that inside this massive building there are smaller individual vendors, each selling their own antique and retro products. It gives the whole place even more character because every section feels different, with its own style and hidden gems. You are not just shopping from one place, you are exploring loads of little shops all under one roof. They also sell all sorts of fabric, which adds another layer to the place. It is not just about buying things, it is about exploring, getting lost and constantly spotting something new that makes you stop and take a closer look. Every aisle feels like a treasure hunt. On top of all that, they even have a cafe, which just adds to the experience. You can take a break, have a drink and soak in the atmosphere before diving back in for another wander. It is one of those places you could easily spend hours in without even realising the time. They also have toilets on site, which is a small thing but actually makes a big difference when you are spending a long time exploring such a massive and fascinating place. Places like this do not feel as common anymore, and The Pumping Station really feels like a throwback to when shops were full of character, personality and genuine surprises. If you love antiques, retro stuff or just exploring somewhere that feels truly different, this place is an absolute must visit.
Can’t leave a zero, but here goes. As per the information Google gave us, we brought our dog. As soon as we walked through the door, the young man managed to drag himself from his mobile phone long enough to tell us “dogs aren’t allowed” and “that is probably five years old”, proceeding to suggest that I was lying. I’m a reasonable person, and although livid at this stage, we just left. We all understand that some places don’t allow dogs, but the manner in which you speak to people is all-important.
Totally amazing. So many antiques, memorabilia, etc.. most reasonably priced and much more than we expected. Took at least 2 houses to get around, not including a stop at the cafe. Parking was pretty busy (Saturday lunchtime), but we did get a space and there might have been other parking places nearby.
This antiques warehouse is like an Aladdin's cave with so many levels, Nooks and Crannies. You can easily lose yourself for hours looking at all the different shops and stalls. The shop owners are all very friendly and helpful, even if a little tough in the bartering stage of buying something. 😁 I love this place.
An absolute treasure of a place! 🌟 It's like a whole city within a building, ready to explore and wonder. Take a brake in the traditional café, while you take yet another stairs deeper down, finding a whole cobblestoned shopping street hidden under the building. We definitely haven't had enough time to see every corner. Looking forward to come back and explore more ✨
