I miss this gym so much. Loved lifting there between 2018-2021. Only reason I canceled is I moved further away. So many good memories. Can't recommend it enough if you're looking for that raw old school gym feel with amazing atmosphere and equipment.
I just completed a free complementary workout that the gym offers and had time to reflect on it a bit. I was a member of the old World Gym when it was on Dues Drive (close to the current location) for several years. While the current location has more squat racks/deadlift platforms, the old location felt more spacious. The locker room is rather small. I understand there are over 2000 members, the locker room is inadequate if one happens to work out during a busy time, and has only 3 showers (2 functional ones when I tried the gym out).
My review is based on my personal experience here at this gym. My hope is that yours will be better than mine but I will always share my truth along the way. I am giving this place of business 1 star, and this is not something that I normally would do. I will also provide a detailed description as to why. As time went on I enjoyed their outdoor portion of the gym. I began to use that area more frequently. I would use that area to train and frequently go in/out of the door that provided entrance into the main gym. This is the part where things began to get odd. After using the outdoor facilities one day, I started training indoors right after. A gentlemen approached me in the middle of my session stating that I can not use that door to come in and out of. He approached me with street clothing, no logos associated with the gym & he never introduce himself to me. Till this day I have absolutely no idea who this man is. He could potentially be the gym owner, and I honestly would never know because he never introduced himself to me- which needs to be noted. Based on my observation, he is one of the trainers here. He is an older gentleman and appears to be the shortest in height out of all of the available trainers. This altercation started with him telling me to to use the main entrance going forward and I nodded my head and was about to turn away and resume training. As stated- he interrupted me mid-session in the middle of the gym to have this conversation with me. Despite my attempt to resume training he then began to question me about my access. I advised I had access and I use the app. He told me to access the gym on my phone right now so they could check me in for insurance purposes, so I began to do so by pulling out my phone. While accessing the app on my phone, I noticed him slowly leaning towards my personal cell phone screen to look at MY phone. Again, ODD. So I backed up just a little bit so there was enough space between us. He then starts moving his hand around my phone trying to point things out as if I don’t know how to work my own phone. I also never asked for his assistance to begin with, so this was already extremely annoying. Absolutely unprofessional and invasive to say the least. The whole situation could’ve been dealt with differently. But here’s where it got even MORE odd.. more unprofessional… and more invasive. I wanted to get away from this guy so bad that I walked to the front desk and pretended like I did not know how to sign in and have them manually do it for me. The two girls were very sweet and signed me in and let me know about the status of my account. After that I grabbed my things and left the gym. My entire mood was disturbed so I packed up and called it a day. WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS, the social media account for gym followed my personal page. SO HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED This man went to the front desk after I had left that day and asked the girls for my personal information. He used the information available to look up my social media account. This is completely unprofessional, invasive and a true breach of security. If he is looking up my name what else is he going to do? He has full access to my address, my phone number, and my credit card information on file. So now what else is he going to do with that information? Again- completely unprofessional, invasive and a true breach of security. This behavior is not okay. Especially coming from someone who is at an age where this behavior can lead to major consequences. As a working professional and adult, he should know better. Looking up members personal information and using it in a way that has not been approved by the member is extremely dangerous. This is also very uncomfortable as the member because all other information is now comprised.
Cant give this place enough stars... I had a great visit to the gym. I was in the area for business and stopped in to check it out. Cannot speak highly enough about the gym it has everything! Old school, new school. This definately isnt your typical gym. Definately will be making a special trip back in the future!
Love it! Wish it was closer to home, I'd be a member. Has everything one needs to get jacked, stacked, and voluminous. Will return! $20 for the day pass
