Very disappointed!! DIRTY And POOR SERVICE!!! This location was dirty, and the customer service was shockingly poor. The male employee at the front desk was sarcastic, dismissive, and openly rude. When I ordered a smoothie, he made a comment implying I “shouldn’t have walked all this way just for a smoothie,” rolled his eyes, and spoke to me with clear attitude. This was unprovoked and unnecessary. I’ve been a Barry’s customer for over 5 years and live in this neighborhood. I have never experienced this kind of behavior from Barry’s staff before. This interaction completely changed my perception of this location. Customer service matters, especially at a premium fitness brand. Management and ownership should seriously reconsider how employees are trained and held accountable. Until then, I cannot recommend this Barry’s and will be warning others to avoid it!!
Really great staff and instructors- everyone is friendly and welcoming and it's a blast to go to these classes. You should know the men's locker room is often pretty gross and has gotten worse over the past year or two. The shower drains smell fairly often and the showers have mildew and stray body hair from other patrons. They aren't cleaned as often as they should be. For the class price I'd expect management to more strongly staff the location so they could clean more frequently and commit to regular professional deep cleaning to keep build-up at bay. I'm starting to dread needing to shower here after a workout.
This is the only Barry's location I've ever been to, but I've fallen in love!! Always awesome, fun, energetic coaches. Banging workout music!! Incredible workouts. I always walk out feeling strong and accomplished. I love that they offer classes at all hours of the day, everyday!
I love Barry’s bootcamp in the Castro! Bon- the head manager knows how to make people feel at home. He elevated this location with great expertise. Bon has invited my dental team to come for team builds. We appreciated this opportunity so much. Bon also helped throw a Barry’s bootcamp baby shower for my 2nd child! What an experience to workout with friends and family Barry’s style for my little baby boy. The waiting area was even decorated and we were able to hang out afterwards which was a nice touch. As I worked out exclusively at Barry’s throughout the pandemic for my 1st child for all 9 months and with the 2nd child in person. Anthony- my favorite teacher/couch there! He has dedicated many years of enthusiasm, challenging exercises, motivation and great playlists! I love his classes! His hard work should be recognized as a head teacher. Anthony’s classes always book fast for a reason! The smoothie bar- always clean, great options that are healthy post workout. The amenities are clean and great for post class when you need to freshen up and head out to work etc. The blow dryer, towels, lotions, deodorant, pads etc are a nice touch. Love Castro Barry’s!
I had an amazing first class at Barry’s Bootcamp! I loved having my own running station — we did plenty of sprints and even a little incline at the end, which really pushed me. Then it was over to my own weight station for squats and other strength moves. Kamelle was incredible — so upbeat, friendly, and clear with instructions. He even came over to help me personally since it was my first time, and kept encouraging us to push to our limits. The gym itself is spotless, spacious, and very modern. Being the last class at 8 p.m., there was plenty of room to move. Overall, a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to come back!
