I can’t recommend this gym and personal training enough. Steven’s level of expert knowledge really sets him apart. Every session is clearly thought out and tailored to my specific goals. He’s incredibly skilled at adjusting exercises based on ability, form, and progress, and he has a great eye for identifying weak points in my execution of exercises. Instead of a generic program, he builds a plan that directly addresses those weaknesses while still pushing me forward safely and effectively. If you’re looking for someone who truly understands training and knows how to customize it to your individual needs (and let’s be honest who doesn’t want that), this is the place!
I have never enjoyed going to the gym so much in my life. Okay, I've never enjoyed going to the gym before at all. Coach Tris listened to my goals, my likes, and my dislikes and has kept me engaged and interested since Jan 2024. I was looking to get stable and strong and I feel pretty damn great. Me: body fell apart between the pandemic and other depressing life events, worried about losing bone density, terrible at habit formation, really turned off by anything that feels like body shaming or hard selling. I hate treadmills. Davis Fitness Method: Bright and clean space with greenery, quirky decor, and a big progress pride flag. All the equipment you could want; I do small group and don't have trouble getting access. Steven is constantly upgrading everything. They also have a lot of recovery tools - Tris has been able to help with any stiffness or soreness as part of my sessions (when it comes up, which is rare). The atmosphere is friendly and often a conversation will include everyone there. I don't think I've gone to a session where I didn't laugh. It's very queer-friendly and I think Tris might be the only white employee? Anyway, it's a safe space where you can be your authentic self and there's real diversity in the community. I've worked with Steven and Long when Tris takes time off, and they're great too. They're all nerdy about the science of their work and making sure you understand why you're doing what you're doing; I see the skeletal and muscular diagrams on the walls get referred to on the regular. I have no idea if there's a scale in the gym because weight loss isn't one of my goals. No one has ever made me weigh in, and there are no leader boards or contests ...other than knowing that the app Tris uses to track my program will send me a t-shirt when I've lifted a million pounds. Looking forward to it. Update: DID IT!
A gym can have all the equipment in the world, but will still only be as good as the trainers it employs. Although the facility is great and offers a robust selection of equipment that meets my needs, my favorite part of the Davis Fitness Method gym are the holistically health-inspired, fitness and people loving staff that keep the place running. While I personally work with Tris, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and witness each of the trainers working at this facility. Across the board, one thing is apparent over all else - the people that work with you truly care about your goals, your progress, and your overall wellbeing. It makes a huge difference in experience, and makes showing up for yourself that much easier. At this gym you can be sure your trainer is someone else who is also in your corner, cheering you on and reminding you of your capacity for challenging things. My first and foremost goal joining the Davis Fitness Method was simply to enjoy moving my body again, and not dreading the thought of working out. My trainer Tris has been instrumental in returning me to the joy that comes with movement, tailoring my workouts in a responsive, yet focused way to help me achieve my original goal and identify new ones. I can honestly say my sessions are some of the things I look forward to most in my week, which was not the case when I initially (and somewhat begrudgingly) enrolled myself. Tris has worked with me to find aspects of my workout that make me look forward to returning to each day. In addition to a renewed disposition to exercise, Tris helps me understand how each movement correlates to my body functions. It helps me understand and create the “mind-body connection” that allows me to feel more confident with each piece of equipment and its respective movement, and how it correlates with the muscle I’m working, and its function. I honestly can say I learn something new with each session. All said I feel privileged and grateful to work out here, and highly recommend this gym for beginners, folks that have trained all their life, and people looking for a renewed sense of excitement for their workout and goals.
I’ve been at Davis Fitness Method for almost two years, and it’s hands down the best gym I’ve joined. Steven, the owner, really knows his stuff—he customizes training to each person and pushes you just enough to keep progressing. I’ve seen great results in strength, mobility, and confidence, plus I’ve learned so much about nutrition and training. The gym is always clean, well-kept, and has a super supportive community. It’s the first place I’ve actually looked forward to working out!! Looking forward to making strides in my fitness journey with DFM!
What began as a fitness journey has become a true personal transformation. I’ve always had an instant gratification mindset and my fitness goals used to be vague. After trying over 10 different (and pricey) fitness options in Seattle — personal training, pilates, yoga, barre, HIIT, CrossFit, you name it — I finally found this gem. I’ve been training here with Tris for the past two years and I’m at my fittest and strongest ever. More importantly, my mindset has completely shifted. I no longer struggle to find motivation. I genuinely love coming in and look forward to progress every week. In the beginning, I skipped often or didn’t put in the effort but Tris never gave up on me. He kept checking in, tweaking my program and finding ways to help me stay consistent. And I cannot say enough about Steven. Anytime I’ve had an ache or pain, Steven figured out how to fix it. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, always willing to share and has a gift for encouraging people to be their best. He’s the glue that holds this diverse, welcoming community together. Not a day goes by without laughter in this gym. The coaches are outstanding, the members are supportive and this is hands down the best small business I’ve ever come across in my life.
