I am a Drybar member and have a lot of blowouts left (opened during covid and so they jsut accumulated, cannot cancel unless I want to lose the blowouts) and unfortunately this location cannot get it together on scheduling. I booked an appointment a month in advance and ended up waiting 40 minutes past my scheduled appointment. Unfortunately this isn't the first time and not the stylist's fault, but it is exceptionally frustrating when the front desk person cannot provide any updated timeline, and doesn't seems to not care that you've been waiting more than 30 minutes past an appointment. Better off going to Eastie for blowouts!
No good. I came here for a blowout before an event and ended up looking like I rolled out of bed and didn’t bother to brush my hair. The stylist was nice enough and seemed like she meant well, but I think the products and weird styling techniques (a very unusual blow dry method and curling with a flat iron) were the issue. I left with odd looking curls that I was assured with fall properly as the day progressed, but they ended up completely disappearing. I don’t normally have issues with my hair holding a curl, the weather was perfect, I didn’t work out or take a nap or do anything that would compromise the style. This was my first time at a Drybar and I will never go back to any location. It’s more expensive than a regular salon, the experience is a little impersonal (I’ve never been to a salon where I kept my coat on during a service), and the blowouts are just not good. I have very dry, coarse, wavy hair, so maybe it’s meant for people with perfect, easy to style hair. I was also a little annoyed that the promo I used during booking was “expired” by the time my appointment came around. Not the shop’s fault, but again a Drybar-specific issue. There should have been fine print or terms explaining this but there were none. Anyway, pass on this place and try to stick to a local salon instead.
I enjoy coming here. The place is clean and organized. Tatyana is fantastic and I get the best compliments. Mimi is friendly and kind. Nubia at the desk with Miranda make a great team. Thank you for the best blow out!
Excellent Service from Paul at Drybar Back Bay! Paul did an amazing job with my hair! Not only did he style it beautifully, but he was also so friendly and easy to talk to—we had great conversations throughout the appointment. He was truly awesome, and I’ll definitely be requesting him every time. Highly recommend!
Posting this rather reluctantly because I hate posting public reviews. However, I reached out to Drybar directly 3 weeks ago to give them a chance to rectify the awful experience I had at this salon and they never got back to me. When I made the appointment I left a note explaining that my hair doesn’t hold curl well and I also explained that at length to my stylist prior to service. I showed her the first picture you’ll see posted and she seemed to understand the look I was going to for. I also explained that I didn’t expect my hair to come out looking exactly like the photo, but because my hair doesn’t hold style well it’s better to go for something big and bouncy that’ll eventually fall. Again, the stylist understood what I was saying and we agreed that she would do a bouncy 90’s blowout. Unfortunately my hair turned out terribly. My appointment was at 10am and by the time I got back to my apartment, just after 11am, my hair had already fallen out as you can see from the second photo. She told me to run my fingers through my hair when I got home and when I did that my hair just went straight as seen in the last photo. I should’ve known better when the stylist took out a wand curler and started to do beach waves but I thought that I’d trust the process. I would’ve stuck around to talk to someone and explain my concerns but I was on a tight timeline. All in all, this “blowout” was not worth $100 and I won’t be going back to Drybar and you shouldn’t either.
