Really lovely bar. The Guinness was exceptional!! Best Guinness we tried in the whole of Scotland and not a bad price for the pint at all. Lovely decor; mixed the old with the new. Live music. Kid friendly. Friendly staff.
Nice little place set back from the road and was an old chapel. Good selection of food. Slightly higher price than a pubs but nevertheless good quality food. We called in on a very busy Christmas party day, but still fitted us in. Has a lovely music venue upstairs. Was a life saviour having walked around for ages and not deciding what to eat
Attended a function in the function space upstais. Service was great, atmosphere was great. The food, so much salad everything tasted of cabbage. Southern fried chicken wraps had a small chicken goujon cut in half in each wrap. The coleslaw had so much cabbage in it that is all I could taste. I had to go to Gregs and get a BBQ Chicken roll, yes Gregs was better than the food at the Ghillie Dhu, and I am not keen on Gregs.
This is the best restaurant I've been to in Edinburgh. The atmosphere is incredible, the food is amazing, and the staff (especially Swati) is really helpful and kind. I loved this place. Luckily, it was the last restaurant I went to, so I’ll forever have it in mind when I remember my trip. I’m a vegetarian and I ordered the soup of the day (tomato soup) and the vegetable rolls. Everything was amazing, but the soup was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the curry of the day and he liked it too. It’s not too expensive, which is great.
Great place for a drink, meal, and live music. Downstairs is a nice restaurant with a bar. Comfortable bar seats, booths at the bar and at an elevated dining area. Outside seating if it is not too bad out. There is also counter space for eight if you are having small bites and a few drinks. Bartenders are really good and will help you with whisky selections. Great selection of whisky, gin, beers cocktails and wines. Food also very good. The bread was hearty, and the olives and excellent way to start. My black pudding scotch egg was great as were the mussels we had. The couple we were with raved over the fish and chips as well as the Sticky Toffee Pudding they had for dessert. Our waitress (Swati) made the evening for us. She got our orders correct and was spot on taking care of the table. Not hovering but coming by when it was needed. Great service!
