Wonderful place -I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and with 3 different dogs. Great staff, my dog runs right in and is very happy to be there. They take great care of the dogs!
I was hesitant to leave a negative review, but after years of boarding my dog at Dog Spa for extended stays, I felt compelled to share my experience to help better inform fellow dog owners. The 25th Street facility has always felt somewhat spartan—especially considering the premium pricing—but I chose to overlook that because the staff consistently presented themselves well. This most recent two-week boarding stay, however, left me genuinely concerned. Even before picking up my dog, I was startled by the daily photos the staff sent while I was traveling in Europe; at one point, I honestly wondered if they had accidentally photographed a different dog. It became increasingly clear that my dog was losing a significant amount of weight. I had pre-portioned his meals into daily baggies with precise measurements and feeding instructions, and I never received any indication that he wasn’t eating. When we brought him home, we were shocked by his condition. He had lost five pounds in two weeks—dropping from a healthy 28 lbs to just 23 lbs. His ribs, hip bones, and spine were noticeably protruding, and it was alarming how much smaller he looked. He also had a semi-healed vertical bite mark on the right side of his head, which may have been the result of rough play with other dogs. To be clear, my intention is not to bash Dog Spa. I understand the challenges of closely monitoring individual dogs when they are placed in a general playgroup environment each day. However, the significant weight loss during this stay has forced us to reconsider using Dog Spa for any future long-term boarding. The staff members we’ve interacted with have always been kind, and it’s evident that they care about the pets. That makes writing this review all the more disappointing. Still, for anyone considering boarding their dog for more than a few days, I would strongly recommend exploring other options. Update: I was promptly contacted by two managers from DogSpa following my post. Both were very apologetic, willing to listen to my concerns, and reassured me that they would implement new procedures with their staff to avoid similar issues in the future. They also immediately offered to reimburse me for the entirety of my most recent stay!—something I hadn’t even requested. It’s clear from my discussions with them that the team at DogSpa genuinely takes the safety of the pets in their care very seriously.
The New York Dog Spa & Hotel is one of the first prestigious dog boarding facilities that treat pets at a higher level than the average kennel. They also offer grooming, training & some essential pet accessories besides boarding. We know our client's dogs love going to this facility as they are practically running to the door each time.
My dog Mila absolutely loves to come to NY Dog Spa & Hotel on 25th Street. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. My dog gets so very excited every time she comes in for daycare.
New York Dog Spa - 25th Street is the most incredible place for my (dog) baby, Molly. It all starts with Audrey, the amazing manager, who is not only kind and loving to Molly but goes above and beyond to be sure that the Dog Spa is SO much more than "a place to leave my dog" - it is Molly's home away from home! Audrey and all of the staff and handlers are kind, knowledgeable, careful, fun and engaged, and the dogs they have Molly paired with are the perfect dogs to ensure that she has the best time and is safe. And they are always doing special activities with and giving so much TLC to the dogs! Because of this, I feel beyond comfortable having Molly there for doggy day care, as well as for boarding and grooming - it is the only place that I will take Molly for all of these services. And the best indication of what a fabulous place it is is how Molly runs to get there and, at times, wants to stay when I go to pick her up! Molly's excitement at seeing Audrey and the other staff when we come in the door warms my heart. I am so grateful for our New York Dog Spa family!!!
