My wife and I chartered the Oceanis 41.1 for a bucket list sail on SFO Bay. It was a terrific experience! The boat was awesome and our captain, George Fay made us feel welcome in every way. We wouldn’t hesitate to charter again next time we visit SFO
wanted to make the jump to power after thirty five years of sail racing, instructing and cruising. Passage Nautical made it easy. I checked their website and found reasonably priced private lessons. Samantha helped me through the booking and I was set up for a five hour lesson with Mark Woods at Passage’s Alameda docks. Mark arrived in the morning ready to teach. There was a mixup about which boat was scheduled (Passage has several) but Mark calmly worked through the issues and we were soon on board a shiny twentyseven foot Beneteau Barracuda. Transitioning from single to dual props was the main goal and as soon as we pulled out of the slip Mark immediately challenged me with engines only close quarter maneuvering drills. My initial death grip gave way to a smoother touch and we moved on to backing into slips, and so on. The five hours flew by. Mark was alway in the teaching moment and gave me plenty of room to get outside my limits (without getting outside his). By the end my brain was pretty saturated but I felt I had the skills I had come for. Would book again.
We rented the Oceanis 51.1-Hydrobaby for a team building event and it was great. We got picked up in SF near the ferry building and, given the weather, sailed out under the golden gate bridge! All team members were happy, the crew was great, and the boat was spacious and had plenty of space and bathrooms.
I had a very disappointing beginning to the experience but one that did end up being memorable and enjoyable. This experience was for my wife's birthday and I made a 9:00am reservation for a half day on a sail boat. The day before I received an email stating I was to reach out to the captain, however the captains contact was blank. I promptly sent an email but still have not received a reply. On the day of the outing, I arrived 30 minutes before departure but found no captain. I called Passage Nautical slightly before 9, but was told no one who could answer my questions were in. Then I called around 9:10 but still no assistance. On our last attempt around 930, my wife called and spoke with Debbie. She stated she was working to resolve the issue and said a Captain would be available later in the day. Fortunately we cleared our whole day and only needed to slightly move the lunch reservations. We met Captain Steve and his wife Lynn. They did an amazing job. The boat was the Oceanis 41.1 Fresh Tracks and it is a very nice sail boat. The cabin was comfortable, however most of the time we were looking at the views. The sides of the boat are narrow, so extra caution was needed when moving from the bow to the cabin. With our party of 5 the boat would feel full when the sails where up because everyone had to be in the back. The 4 hour trip included motoring out from Oakland to near Port of SF. This allowed for great photos. From there we sailed out under the GGB and then began to head back. We went between Angel Island and Tiburon and then back under the eastern span of the Bay Bridge. The 4 hour trip was a little longer than we needed, but it is still a very fun time. The Captain and boat made up for the misques that morning and most importantly my wife had a good time on her birthday trip. Mistakes happen and obviously they retain great captains and charter nice boats. I do believe this is worth the time and we had fun
Wonderful experience for my wife's birthday. Six of us thoroughly enjoyed our sunset cruise, including our teenager. Rodney and Joey were terrific!
