There's one thing that I always complain about when it comes to desserts in this city. Most places get them wrong, everything is over sweetened. It's not about good tastes meshing with one another. Usually it's just a sugar bomb that's going to hurt your stomach. Not purple yum, my God this is the best cake I have had since I can remember. The tiramisu is my favorite, chocolate crepe cake is a close second. I am so coming back, I just hope it doesn't add too many pounds.
My wife and I ventured over to Purple Yum Bakery in Lexington last night for a unique dinner. Having lived in Japan with family for 4 1/2 years we got used to the yummy Asian Baked Goods available. Purple Yum brings back a lot of great memories. Their Vegetable Curry buns are to die for and so are the soft bread savory good Char Siu Bao (Chinese BBQ Buns). They have a number of unique, sweet offerings as well. Note that the “sweet“ is not the same kind of sweet that you get at a donut shop. It’s much less pronounced, still sweet, but in a mild fashion. I just can’t imagine that I hadn’t been there yet but things made it difficult. I will be going back and very soon! Worth the trip. Worth the time. Worth the money!
I believe this is the Ube bun, & it was absolutely delicious! I wish I had a bigger appetite when I went but I only got one thing. I will definitely be back to try some of the other goodies. They had the cutest little cheesecakes shaped into little characters!
These bakery items were delicious. The savory cheese honey mayo was amazing. The mochi donuts are also great. Honestly there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. Definitely stop in. Beautiful shop and great baked goods
Finally stopped by Purple Yum Bakery after seeing so many recommendations. I tried 8 different flavors and got my son a cheesecake dinosaur. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was hard to pick a favorite. I loved their sweet items, but their savory selections stole the show. Wow. The price was also not nearly as bad as I feared. I'll probably get a few more things next time, because there will definitely be a next time. Yum is right!
