Searching for ice cream was a toss up with some good places but I was looking more specifically for ice cream that are specialty flavors instead of your normal scoops of chocolate, vanilla, etc. This was the one to go to. I ordered (1) scoop of the Chewy Molasses Cookies with Rum Caramel. It had an excellent taste which was smooth and inviting. They advise you it contains alcohol but you could barely taste any of it, and if you do, it’s nothing out of the ordinary to where you say to yourself, “this tastes like alcohol”. You will be good. Before I came to the conclusion of getting this scoop, I sampled a few flavors. PLEASE sample the flavors. I felt like I was going to be a burden trying some but the young lady who helped me, insisted to try as many as I wanted. So it is expected to try as much as you want before making your decision. It wasn’t too busy going inside. Obviously it can be slightly delayed with people who are sampling before ordering, but don’t let that deter you from doing the same. Parking seemed to be paid street parking. There’s a lot right next door but a lot of is labeled Employee Parking and I wasn’t sure what the other portion was labeled as. If you are in this area, definitely try this place for the choices in ice cream they have. You won’t regret it. If I could ordered more than one flavor, Ike all of them, I would. Honey Lavender would have been my next choice.
We visited here from Utah and wish we could get a salt and straw near us. The honey lavender was so good and the sea salt caramel was the best we have ever had. We love that they offer both gluten free and dairy free options too. This was a random find while we were looking for a sweet treat and they did not disappoint. The workers were all very friendly and helpful. We will be back the next time we end up in Sacramento or at any of their other locations.
Another fantastic visit to @saltandstraw! Their unique and creative flavors never disappoint. Today I tried the chocolate &peanut butter crunch and it was SO good! ❤️ So happy to have such a wonderful family-owned business in Midtown Sacramento.
My first time visiting this place and I was very impressed. They have creative and original ice cream flavors and let you try samples (using real spoons, which I appreciated.) I got the salted, malted, chocolate chip cookie dough and was very pleased. The flavors were expansive and the ice cream was creamy (as opposed to the last place I went which was icy). They also have some pup cups available for those who like to spoil their fur babies. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I think I have found my new ice cream place for when I have my next craving :)
In a word: unusual. The ice cream flavors here are definitely different and the owner has achieved what was the focus. One can sample any and all of the flavors on the menu which actually rotates before ordering. The prices are pretty steep too and will set you back $6.25 for a single scoop. But, the scoops are pretty generous. Would I go back for a repeat? No. Salt and Straw does not have the kind of ice cream that I prefer and that is the old traditional flavors like butter pecan or orange sherbet!
