I normally appreciate YMCA facilities, but I’ve had two experiences at Shane Homes YMCA (Rocky Ridge) that I feel others should be aware of. 1. Staff attitude during kids’ swim assessment (months ago) The pool staff, supervisor, and trainer showed a surprisingly harsh attitude during my son’s and his friend’s swim test. Instead of encouraging the kids or giving them clear guidance, they rejected them sharply without any supportive feedback. This kind of behaviour affects children’s confidence and their motivation to learn swimming. As a parent, I expected a more positive and constructive approach, especially in a facility focused on community and youth development. 2. Safety concern – sharp tile injury (Nov 15, around 5:30 PM) Yesterday, my son cut his toe on a sharp tile edge in the wave pool area where the caulking was missing. The staff bandaged it, but the hazard should not have been there in the first place. Pool floors must be inspected and maintained regularly to prevent injuries, especially in a family setting. Proper cleaning and maintenance seem to be lacking in some areas. Overall, I hope YMCA management takes these concerns seriously — both in terms of staff attitude toward kids and safety/maintenance of the pool. We come here to support our children, encourage their physical activity, and enjoy family time, and experiences like these should not be happening in such a reputable facility.
This place has everything you need! Their gym is large and well equipped, their pool is kid friendly with a waterslide and lane swim, they have a steam room and wave pool, lazy river and hot tub, they have basketball courts, etc. They have an ice rink for skating as well. This has it all! Their membership prices are a bit above average, but it is still worth it! It's a great facility, definitely recommend it! Th
There are trails in front and behind YMCA. There’s lots of parking spots too. Outside of YMCA there’s a basket ball court, and skate park. These are good of young and older kids. There’s benches seen along the trails. We were able to do roller blades on these trails and they weren’t too busy. The art (flock of birds) is just amazing.
The location is amazing—the views are beautiful and the road leading to it makes the visit feel special. The front desk staff were fantastic, definitely 5-star service! However, the restroom had no toilet paper and the shower had no shampoo, which was disappointing. With small improvements in amenities, this place could easily be a top choice.
Very aesthetically pleasing facility with a great amount of amenities located inside. The aquatic area of the facility is massive and is good for swimmers and children. The facility has a massive gym area with various types of equipments. Totally recommend this facility.
