Just had an amazing class with Petrina at The Hot Room for a Saturday Hot Pilates Sculpt class. Loved the music, the energy, the routine and the instructor. This class is definitely one to book ahead if you want to take as it’s hard to get into FOR A REASON. They know what they’re doing at THR. Policies and procedures are in place for a reason and I’m so glad they enforce them for the good of ALL patrons. Nothing is worse than some entitled random showing up AFTER the scheduled start of a class and expecting to join the session. It’s disruptive & rude. Common courtesy (and policy) says to arrive 15 mins early to get settled and be ready to begin on time. Be respectful to everyone else in the 25 person class! Especially if you’re a first time client, I’d recommend arriving 20 mins early to give yourself plenty of time to check in, put your things away (including your CELLPHONE- see the posted sign), and find a spot.
LOVEEEEE this place. I have never taken a Pilates class but I feel in love with it due to this studio. I really enjoy Nicole, Mayu, Petrina, and Rosario. I highly recommend this studio on your fitness journey.
I’ve taken a lot of yoga classes over the last few years, and this was by far the worst experience. Nothing about this studio’s practice was peaceful, calming, or present. The teacher sat in the corner, blurting out instructions like a drill instructor. I’m not sure why he wasn’t actively doing any of the poses, and I’ve never experienced a class this way. He was instructing so quickly you could barely understand what was going on- consistently saying “harder”, “faster”, “more”, “harder”, “do it harder”. Like Jesus, please stop talking for a single moment so I can enjoy the pose. The aesthetics of the space weren’t much better- the entire studio is drowned in hospital lighting. After the class, I asked to use the shower facilities, and the instructor rudely told me, “Quick, 3 minutes, I’m closing the studio soon”. I ended up leaving because I felt uncomfortable. Luckily I used a class pass so I don’t have to come back. Hot Ra Yoga near The Hangar in Lakewood is way nicer!!
It's Magic! I have never been a person that enjoys working out. But the energy that I experience at Petrina's pilates sculpt is contagious and motivating. It fires me up and helps to encourage me to power through tough moments. Now I find myself looking forward to her workouts. They are really FUN and for me that's a 180 degree change compared to my previous outlook on exercise. I don't recognize myself because I look forward to the next party! Melba's hot yoga class makes me feel supported and encouraged as I work on my core strength and improve my flexibility. She cares about your fitness and brings her years of experience to her classes to teach you skills that help you to improve the various asanas. Attending these classes has helped me to become stronger and more flexible. Nicole's yoga 90 class is wonderful! She's very knowledgeable & teaches us to articulate different body parts so we can keep the range of motion that we have and improve upon it. I am practicing articulating the vertebrae in the spine, my hips, my shoulders, even my toes to improve their function and not substitute mobility in one joint and sacrifice a different one. My mobility and flexibility have started to show gains and I'm grateful
It hurts so good!!! Petrina's classes are EVERYTHING! She challenges everyone in her class to push themselves beyond what they think they are capable of. She has great energy, she varies her routines and plays fantastic music.
