I was excited to try this place given the reviews, however, the pizza was very underwhelming. The sauce had no dimension or flavor, like something out of a jar rather than something fresh. The pizza crust itself had a hard, artificial texture to it, almost similar to a frozen pizza. It didn't have the texture of a typical NY crust. I will say that at least the prices were fair and they had a nice atmosphere.
Welcome addition to the neighborhood. Great location on my walk to the Light Rail. Nicely done spot. Comfortable place, good service, and fair prices. Lots of tasty looking pies in the case. The oven was going strong and there were kind staff cooking and working hard. For my first (1st) visit I tried a plain slice ($3) as everyone should. It was tasty and had all the right flavor notes. It was perfectly cooked and reheated to go. Recently, I tried a sandwich/hero/sub. Chicken Cutlet, "Buffalo Style", Homemade Ranch, Mozzarella, and Arugula. It was ridiculously good. The seeded bread they use is delicious, soft, fresh tasting, and chewy. It was generously large and was really two (2) sandwiches in one (1).
We had Penne with vodka and Red Argentinian shrimp. Very good, never had this shrimp before and it tastes almost like crab / lobster. Also got the meat sweats pie which was great, easily top 3 pizza in jersey city right now
Guys. This pizza was insane. We tried the white pie, the pepperoni, and the buffalo chicken. Each was spectacular in its own right. The toppings were so flavorful and well balanced, I could not believe this was the first day of the soft open. And the garlic knots. Oh, the garlic knots. They’re like the realization of what I always wish a garlic knot could be, and just never is. This place is a winner. Can’t wait to delve into the rest of the menu.
A long-awaited slice joint is finally calling the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood home! And boy, did it live up to my expectations for a classic, thin crust, quintessential NJ slice. We got the Buffalo Chicken slice (ranch on the side) and their “Kitchen Sink” slice (mushroom, onion, pepperoni & sausage). The ratios of cheese and toppings made for a consistently tasty bite, and was a generous serving without leaving the pie soggy. They have a takeout-style atmosphere, with a counter and case full of pies and table seating along the wall and towards the front. The subway tile brings out a classic but modern pizzeria appeal! Would definitely dine in casually or take out. This is a much-needed addition to this budding neighborhood, and surely deserves the traffic it will get. Excited to discover more of what PoP has to offer!
